Started fishing about half way down on the left hand bank (as you look from the bridge). Loose fed handfuls of pellet with a selection of ledgered hook baits (8-14mm halibut pellets, 8mm robin red, code red boilies, peperami etc)some wrapped in paste, some not, but despite a few bites, nothing hooked until 3pm when I swapped to the float rod and trotted a big chunk of crust down and hooked a nice chub (2lb or so) within seconds.
Moved further down to the last swim just in the faster water and alternated between float and ledger rod. Had 1 Barbel of 8lb and another nice Chub on the ledger rod but the rest of the fish came to bread on the float. All Chub were in 2-3lb range and only stopped fishing when I ran out of bread (only took a couple of rolls because they were out of date!). Next time I would take a couple of crusty loaves and mashed bread and really focus on trotting instead of sitting watching a motionless rod tip.
River was low and clear with good access down from the banks with steps down to most swims. Parking within a few metres of the start of the beat makes this perfect for the lazy amongst us and the bridge gives a good vantage point to survey the river.

Back to the beat after a short evening session. River quite low but some colour, weather was changeable from showers to clear skies. Relieved to find that the deeper water swims were available with no anglers casting into them from the opposite bank that meant we stood a better chance with the Barbel. Between us landed 6 Barbel to 8lbs including one of under a pound the rest around the 4-6lbs mark throughout the day lost 5 to snags and hook pulls. A few nice chub caught up to 4lbs and a couple of eels which seem to be making a bit of a come back. On our 4 day trip we caught a total of 13 eels.

As per other comments, there are only 1 or 2 swims available due to the weed growth. Boys Rocks was a tight swim for two anglers but we managed to squeeze in and catch on a variety of tactics including pellet/feeder, cheese paste and meat. 7 barbel to 7 1/2 lb and 3 chub to 4 lb caught over the day. Thanks W&U.

Arrived at 12, walked the stretch for one hour, fished side by side in swim. Left most tackle in car and travelled light, one landing net, one seat, one angler sat on the unhooking mat. Big mistake! Needed two landing nets as we often had fish on at the same time. Fished pellet feeder, biggest barbel 9lb, biggest Chub just over 5.4lbs. What a great afternoon and what a great fishery. Sorry the report's late but only got home on Sat after a fantastic week on river.

Fished on July 6 and 7, and caught 3 trout and 3 grayling on each visit. Came across a large dead lamprey in the shallows. Would highly recommend the fish and chip shop in Builth Wells too.

Thanks for another great and well organised day on the river. I really enjoyed the Tenkara day, learned a great deal and have ordered some tackle! No real complaints or niggles. Better maps, or grid references would help, or even photocopies and laminates of OS maps/directions to the beats, though this is minor for me being local! Thanks again, Nick.

Spectacular day on the Wye! Started fishing around 7am with the first barbel falling to pellet and groundbait within minutes. Despite sunny conditions with a downpour at lunchtime, followed by yet more sun the barbel stayed in the swim and seemed to find our pellets and sweetcorn irresistible. Simultaneous takes on both our rods occurred on two occasions.
After a break for a well deserved lunch we returned to the swim at 3pm when a PB barbel of 11lb was landed! Over 150lbs bagged on the day! Total of 20 barbel. Oh, and 6 chub... What an incredible day. Thank you WUF! We will be back!
