Despite confirmation by the Westminster Government that fishing constitutes exercise, restrictions on movement remain in place with travel only permitted with your locality (village, town or area of city). This means that for the vast majority, fishing Passport beats is not possible within the rules and we have therefore decided to remain closed for the time being.

Please note that while Passport fisheries are closed they cannot be viewed on the Fishing Passport website, nor can their catch returns.

Once a date for the end of lockdown has been confirmed by Welsh and Westminster Governments, we will reopen the fisheies for bookings. For the latest information, please see the Wye & Usk Foundation's "COVID-19 Latest" webpage.

The new lockdown in England proscribes any 'leisure or recreation.' This, along with the Tier 4 lockdown in Wales means that all Fishing Passport beats are closed until further notice. Advance bookings will not restart until confirmation of the easing of lockdown restirctions has been confirmed by the Westminster and Welsh Governments. For the latest information, please see the Wye & Usk Foundation's "COVID-19 Latest" webpage.

COVID-19 Update

With the start of the 4-week lockdown in England yesterday and the end of the Welsh firebreak on Monday 9th, we have issued an update on Passport fishing which can be found here.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Following the announcement today that a 2-week lockdown will begin in Wales from 6pm on Friday 23rd October, Welsh Fishing Passport beats will close for bookings during that time. Beats in England remain unaffected. See here for more details.

Mid Ballingham and Fownhope 8: a suprise for Charlie McBridge who hooked a monster and played it for 45 mins before landing a common Carp of 18lbs He went on to land a barbel (8lbs)

COVID-19 Update - following the First Minister's announcement today of the lifting of travel restrictions from next week, we will begin to reopen Welsh Passport fisheries for online bookings as of Monday. Please bear with us as it may take a few hours to reopen all of them.

COVID-19 UPDATE: Following today's announcement on the changes to lockdown measures in England (but not Wales), the Passport will remain closed to bookings for time being. We will be reviewing the situation tomorrow following the release of further details from the Government.

COVID-19 UPDATE FOR ANGLERS: Following yesterday evening's clarity from the Government on what constitutes non-essential travel, we are closing the Passport to bookings with immediate effect. Please note that the booking system will allow you to place tickets into your basket but will not allow you to proceed to the checkout.

Full refunds will be available to anybody who has made a booking while the current restrictions are in place.

We will review the situation when the latest rules on movement change. In the meantime, thank you for your support and we hope that you stay safe.

Upper Canon Bridge : New in 2020, the barbed wire river fence has been removed and the bank side vegetation that has caused access problems in the past will be managed for the forthcoming season.

How Caple Court : Tough day with cold, rising and coloured water after heavier than expected overnight rain.  A nice Chub came early on and a mid double Pike late afternoon. Love the venue and hope to be back in more favourable conditions.

Middle Wye : A happy angler on Saturday 25th Jan 2020. "After 20 minutes ledgering and trotting a deadbait though the first swim I went into, I switched to a lure, a Savage Gear 3D trout. 4th cast, bang. Knew it was a good fish, it weighed in at 21lb 5oz. Happy days :) "

Whitney Court : Visiting father and son anglers John and Renny Clark had a red letter day yesterday returning 5 pike from 8 to 16lb. all from beats 5&6. Sink and draw sprats close to the bank did the trick. Not a single take from the dead bates.They commented that the fish were lean and thinner than normal probably as a consequence of the prolonged high water throughout this wet winter.

Rhymni Anglers finally found the river fishable at the Rectory today. A member landed 3 barbel, biggest 12lbs 3oz (weighed) and another landed a chub of 6lbs

The wet weather continues but some good barbel fishing can still be found by concentrating on the margins. Please remember that "wash-offs" apply when the fishing is impossible or dangerous, rather than just being difficult!

The Courtfield beat now allows anglers to fish with 2 rods. Please not that this rule only applies to Courtfield and no other fishery in the Passport.
