We cannot stress enough the importance of making quick and accurate catch returns, even if nothing has been caught. Catch returns can be made quickly via our online form for waters that both participate in the Passport and those that do not.

Despite confirmation by the Westminster Government that fishing constitutes exercise, restrictions on movement remain in place with travel only permitted with your locality (village, town or area of city). This means that for the vast majority, fishing Passport beats is not possible within the rules and we have therefore decided to remain closed for the time being.

Please note that while Passport fisheries are closed they cannot be viewed on the Fishing Passport website, nor can their catch returns.

Once a date for the end of lockdown has been confirmed by Welsh and Westminster Governments, we will reopen the fisheies for bookings. For the latest information, please see the Wye & Usk Foundation's "COVID-19 Latest" webpage.

The new lockdown in England proscribes any 'leisure or recreation.' This, along with the Tier 4 lockdown in Wales means that all Fishing Passport beats are closed until further notice. Advance bookings will not restart until confirmation of the easing of lockdown restirctions has been confirmed by the Westminster and Welsh Governments. For the latest information, please see the Wye & Usk Foundation's "COVID-19 Latest" webpage.

Mowley Wood : Upstream limit extended for 2020. The beat now comprises approximately 1½ miles of double bank wild brown trout fishing on the delightful river Arrow. The river valley here is a wonderfully secluded part of Herefordshire that has been kept largely private for many years. It offers some of the most magical brown trout fishing available in the Wye catchment. (The beat is now day ticket only and not available via the Wild Stream Permit)

We are now in the process of opening up fisheries for 2020. Please check each beat page for availability as this process is on-going.

Tuesday 8 October 2019

10:41 am

With no sign of the wet weather abating, water levels remain too high on the main Wye for grayling anglers. Our advice for those wanting to get out is head for the hills! In other words the upper Wye at the Clochfaen or the top of the Irfon.

Friday 27 September 2019

3:42 pm

Aberystwyth Angling Asoc: The recent rain thwarted plans for Upper Wye fishing, so P B headed West to the Aber AA waters, with this fat trout as a reward!

Wednesday 18 September 2019

11:14 am

Llyn Bugeilyn: K G's last trip of the season on Monday was a foggy but successful day, with 10 trout to the net (and as many missed). Lots of surface activity reported, small black flies hatching.

9:22 am

Oliver Burch's August Trout and Grayling fishing report is now available to view here.

Saturday 14 September 2019

12:37 pm

Cildu: With the beat only being open a couple of days, first visit was A S, looking for grayling. He agrees with our first thoughts - "Quite a hard beat to fish, but enjoyable". He had 9 grayling between 12 and 16 inches.

12:34 pm

Carmarthen Amateur AA: Great to see a newcomer to the Passport, and trying out one of our new beats! P G had a good day on the Towy, for his first trip back after some years, with 2 trout to the net.

Thursday 12 September 2019

10:56 am

Abernant: D C had a good day on this upper Wye beat, bringing 22 grayling to hand plus a trout of over 2.5 lbs. Afternoon proved to be the most productive part of the day, largely on a size 18 pale hare's fur Ducks Dun.

Monday 9 September 2019

5:00 pm

Please note that due to the outbreak of crayfish plague on the Monnow tributaries, we have temporarily closed the Escley beats.
