First time for us on here - experimental to see if this was a viable proposition after a days work. We arrived at about 9.15pm to a blizzard spinner fall - the trout were going potty!
But we refused to be distracted and marched down to Crewil pool - the access on this beat is very easy with excellent stiles provided. There is a very nice hut at Crewil with an outside table so we set up there with our snap for the night. Fish were showing so the omens were good.
We fished two set ups - a floating line with 2 smaller flies - size 8 dunkeld on the point and size 10 Alexandra on a dropper - the tiddlers had fun chasing the latter. A size 6 silver stoat on a clear sink tip was on the other rod - can't imagine you want a full sinking line in these conditions.
Early knocks didn't convert but then a fish hammered the dunkeld at midnight - turned out to be a nice fresh sewin of about 17" - pound and half or so, safely returned. And then that was it! Fish continued to show although temperatures plummeted as morning approached so we called it a day.
Two very friendly club members materialised out of the night and were very helpful with advice. Thank you gentlemen! I think we will be back....

12lbs fresh fish spinning in Rapids pool. Nutrients washed in by showers have set off the dreaded algae which won't help fly fishing.

My first session on this beat. I opted to fish between boat pool and the 'No fishing' area. First cast straight in the tree...second cast...I lassoed an eel...:-S... Throughout the morning I had 4 Chub (and lost one) to 4lb 2oz. Then at 3pm fishing a 3ft clear area, I had a massive slack line, and connected to a Barbel! Played it for 10 mins, unwrapping it from various boulders, only for the hook to pull at the net :(. After the red mist had settled, at around 5:30pm I hooked another barbel. Good scrap, weighed 7lb :) ...I also fished on the Thursday...

Second day of our trip on a low river. After a good ending the previous evening we were up at dawn hoping for more action. The fish thought otherwise and by lunch only three barbel had been caught. The afternoon promised to be largely overcast so heavy baiting was followed by a long lunch break. It worked, with a further 15 barbel and seven chub added before dusk. Biggest barbel was 8lbs 2ozs and biggest chub a very large but empty fish of 4lbs 14ozs. A great couple of days on a lovely venue. The farmer stopped for a chat and was very friendly and informative, being an angler himself. Lots of salmon were leaping out but no salmon anglers were about to take advantage.

Superb stretch with easy access and many fishable areas! Sadly we picked the wrong day with BG scoring 2 chub, and myself a blank. However we will definitely try the Creel again and would heartily recommmend this beat.

Weather overcast during most of the day. During early morning period fishing continually interrupted by presence of crayfish even when moving to different areas of reservoir. Late morning and afternoon proved more fruitful with rainbow trout caught using ledger

Ridiculously hard at 0.4m and 18mph westerly blowing upstream. 7 par caught on emerger caddis on point and sedge on dropper. Some heavy blustery showers to contend with at regular intervals with threat of lightning so called it a day at 4. We need rain!!
