Cold overnight so we expected a slow start. Lost 2 barbel late morning. Caught 5 chub to 5lb 6oz during the day. Barbel 9lb 10oz just as packing up around 5.45pm. All fish caught on 3 or 4 ledgered elips pellets over loose fed pellets. Enjoyed the day. Thanks to Denise and Tony at the Jovial Colliers in Lydbrook for the bed and breakfast, excellent as usual!

We picked the windiest day of the week on which to wind up our season. Did it blow and then either downstream or straight at you so trotting proved tricky. River was in great condition with plenty of water and hardly any colour. Without the expected visit from Colin the guide, we had to find the fish ourselves (whatever is fishing coming to!) but that wasn't difficult and after a morning of exploration we found 'em in mid afternoon and had regular action to both rods until dark.
Unusually we caught more barbel than chub despite the regular trickle of maggots and pellets but what a way to finish the season and what a lovely stretch of river to do it on.
We stopped at Woody's Tackle in Hereford en route - does any shop have a bigger selection of feeders and river floats?
Thanks WUF

Had an enjoyable days fishing on my 1st visit to this stretch. After a long and very muddy walk to the fishery I worked my way upstream from the bottom of the stretch. Spending the day roving I managed just a solitary jack pike. Looked good so may return in the future.
NB; Take extra care when wet as I found the banks to be quite dangerous due to being steep and very muddy.
