A cool, overcast day with very little sign of rising fish. Two of us shared the beat and took a steady stream of trout and grayling on leaded bugs fished either in the French or Czech nymphing style. A total of 17 fish most of which came from Ciliau run.

First outing and a total blank. Lovely water and a good hatch of olives in the sun, but I did not even see a fish, let alone go close to hooking one. Will be back, must be better than this!! I might just blame it on the solar flares.....

3 small grayling caught and returned (out of season) all on parachute dries. One brown trout about 16 inches in fair condition caught and returned whilst Czech nymphing. Excellent water condition although air temperature a bit too low for much of a hatch.

Beat:Holme Lacy 3 and Lechmere's Ley
Fishing:Coarse

The river levels were low and clear and we had to search a few swims to find the barbel. Fishing mostly with "traditional" baits, bread, cheese and luncheon meat, we winkled out eight barbel to just under seven pounds and a few plump chub. WUF has made some lovely water available for day ticket fishing and we are very grateful for the service provided.
