Good hatch 12.30pm - 2pm of mixed Olives & March Browns. Minimal rise. Nil caught. Water still v cold.

A few hours spent spinning for salmon. 1 well mended kelt caught early in the day and lost a nice fish on the Ferry pool.

Fished heads of pools with beadhead nymphs size 16. Not a sign of a rise all day, only the odd Olives trickling off. Managed 2 of 12 inches and one of 8 inches. Sport is still very slow.

3 Trout

Brilliant couple of hours after a significant LDO hatch on Wednesday afternoon. Otherwise sporadic activity with nymphs. Fished hard for Salmon either side of rise to no avail but will return later in the summer.

Cold - no fish caught or seen.

Hooked and lost a salmon at 6pm on a black and yellow brass tube. Only action all day. River in great condition - 2'9" on the gauge in front the hut.

Late report Carrots fishery Wednesday 10th. Fish of 35 ins long 18 lbs by Peter Turnham, Lydiatts pool. Red francis, on a brasstube, floating line, fast sink tip, condition factor excellent.

1 Salmon

Blank except for incidental trout. At 1 foot 4 inches, the river seemed just a tad high for the fly, but, full of confidence for some reason, I put in a few hours with a sink tip and tube, then a full sinker, and finally the spinning rod...but no cigar. Just one salmon seen moving, late afternoon in the Vanstone Pool. A rod fishing the right hand bank had a fish, however, and also apparently had a close encounter with a pike which chased a Toby until it crashed into his waders. Rather him than me.

Cold day - No fish taken or seen. Fished 11am-2pm
