Very sunny day with a fair hatch of buzzers. Fished nymphs/buzzers in the morning with no result. Very few fish rising. Returned in evening fishing deeper with goldhead/black lures. Caught 4 trout 8oz - 1lb. Kept two fish which were full of cased caddis - so they were obviously feeding on the bottom which explained the lack of success with the nymphs. Water temp 12C air temp max 15C.

Clear bright sunny day, but cold and windy. Farmer told me that water was very low and fish are scarce. Nymphing and dry failed to attract. Saw nothing move in five hours.

Conditions were bright and a cold wind. The odd fish rising, missed a few on dry fly. The fish that were all taken on nymphs fished upstream. They were all between 1/2 and 1lb.

Good day at Goodrich. Friend had a sealiced cracker first thing 23lbs. We all fished hard, got wet - it was a tad high at top end of fishery (Ross 0.65m) and sun burnt forearms. Fished tubes and Minnows and covered much of the beat by all 4 of us. A few fish showing in Vanstone late on - seemed to show themselves after covering them but not actually touching the fly (tried all sorts to no effect). Good day but damn hard work in the sun etc but friend was handsomely rewarded. Many thanks WUF.

Thanks for the opportunity to fish such a beautiful river.
At approx. 9:30am my son caught a lovely Brown trout {weight - approx. 1.2kg] in good condition. (returned safely). This fish was taken at the top of a small rapid. Later in the afternoon (3:00pm) a second take but lost it. The river water was clear and clean, and no litter on the banks. Access & parking is good.
As for me I took a close inspection of the river bed, no harm done - fortunately.
The only suggestion (not criticism) is that, more sturdy fence styles should be provided. When you're an "old goat" like me (in waders) it is difficult. It will prevent damage to the farmers fences.
What a lovely day out, I would recommend it to anybody and we will certainly be back. Thanks again.

Lovely beat for a few hours, good parking and easy wading. The water was sparkling in the spring sunshine and as I tied my flies knelt on the beach at the lower limit, trout were rising in the pool in front of me. Full of excitement I rose both fish but they refused. Didn't see another rise through the next 300 yards of river, but did hook and land 2 fish of around 10". Great to be back on the wild streams in spring. Magic.

1 brown trout ~ 10 oz on a dry grey duster. Very few fish moving and not much in the way of insects just a few large olives and a single march brown. The wheat fields which come right down to the rivers edge were being sprayed at the time so I wonder whether this had anything to do with the lack of insects and activity. A local who was fishing on the opposite side of the river also only caught 1 fish on a partridge and orange he said this part of the river didnt get much in the way of March brown or Grannom hatches - is this true? I talked to someone in fishtec who said there had been a really large hatch of march browns on the Breconshire fishery a couple of days before and this was fishing well. Made me wonder if trout migrate up and down the river following hatches. Would be useful if the beat map had the pool names marked on it. I think it goes bridge pool, stone pool, chain pool, blue pool but not sure.
This is a fairly featureless bit of river with long slow pools and short fast sections in between. It has some nice long glides which could provide some nice dry fly fishing if there was a decent hatch. Maybe this part of the river is better later in the year.
