Fished from about 14.00 to 17.00. Weather warm with light drizzle to heavy downpours. Water level appeared to be low. First time fly fishing for about 25 years, so was not expecting to catch anything. Imagine my surprise when I caught a lovely brown trout 9"/10". Apart from that did not see many other fish and not many flies about. Thoroughly enjoyed my time, Thanks to the booking office staff. I will certainly be back soon [not another 25 years].

As this was my 1st time fishing running water for trout I was surprised just how small the stream seemed, especially with summer water levels. This meant that there weren't too many pools that I was skillful enough to fish properly. That said this is a very pretty river and the weir pool is perfectly situated 1/2 way along the beat, right where you park up. The perfect place to take a break, eat a sandwich and think about what to try next. It worked for me as I managed to fool a 8" brownie onto the end of a CDC Klinkhammer and into the net from the pool above the weir where the river splits soon after my break.
This fish was in great condition and returned happily back and apart from a few splashy half takes from very small fish and one rather good missed tug in the weir it was all I could manage. I might try somewhere with a bit more room next but will definitely return when I'm better at avoiding catching trees.

Another pleasant day on a favourite part of the river. Water low and fishing slow, there really wasn't much about. Could have done without the folk on the opposite bank throwing stones and branches into the river though!!

Furst time at this venue, there was a few cleared swims and as only 2 fishing at a time it seemed to be enough.
Started at the swim below the steps, lost a barbel at the net, then went onto boy's rock. The fishing was slow on pellet, had a couple of knocks which came to nothing, then switched bait to meat balls and the rod pulled around and a barbel of 10lbs 2ozs came to the net.
For the next few hours we both were fishing with either meatballs or tinned hotdog sausages. Landed 5 barbel and 2 chub, not a bad day. Hope to be back soon.

Water level very low, overcast but warm. Day was spent with Chris for a days guidance on salmon fishing instruction learning to spey cast etc and other ideas for trout fishing and reading the water. I found this day a very useful time and much enjoyed the company of Chris.
I look forward to putting what I have learned into practice later in the season when conditions are better and salmon could be about in Sept/Oct.

Very nice day, but the water was very low. Plenty of small trout around, caught 6 trout around 9 inch on dry fly and nymphs. Only fished about 2 h in the afternoon so I did not fish all water.

I fished from 11am to 2:30pm. River very low and not that many flies about although I spotted about 10 rises. 4 grayling of about 6-8 inches caught along with a bigger fish of about 11-12 inches. 3 trout up to 8 inches caught although I lost a couple of much bigger ones. All fish caught on parachute adams or cdc dry flies apart from one caught on a tungsten bead nymph.
The sheep seem to be causing quite a bit of damage to the banks in the large field on the left bank that used to have crops in it and which isn't fenced off from the river. A dead sheep was also in the river near to the boundary between this field and the first field where you park. Two cormorants spotted flying away from the river when I was walking to the start of the beat.

Nice section of lower Wye. Lower part of beat was choked with weed and therefore not fishable. "Boys Rocks" is where the "Wye Tackle Fairy" resides. 4 good Barbel taken from swims on pellet downstream of "Boys Rocks". A tough day only blighted by intense sunshine.
