Stiff down stream breeze didn't help but that abated by late morning. No fish rising, fished a duo with PTN and caught 5 trout around 8 -10 inches. Saw one diseased fish around 2 pound. Appeared to have white fungal growth around its head.

Another great evenings fishing. The third and final day so started seriously fishing in the early afternoon and fished until early evening before travelling home. The river was still very low and clear and the fish seemed to have backed off the feed a little, although as soon as the sun started to fade the bites came thick and fast. All fish came to pellets and some very successful homemade boilies, all presented using standard feeder techniques. Biggest barbel was 9lb 8oz and the biggest chub about 4lb. A very enjoyable few days. I will be returning very shortly. Many thanks to Don.

Low water with only 7" on the Llanstephan guage and a lovely day's weather: mainly cloudy and little wind for a change. Unfortunately though, the favourable conditions made no difference whatsoever to insect life, with few bugs around, as on all rivers at the moment - just a few Yellow Mays and small olives, and hardly any sedges or midge. Not surprising then that there weren't too many rising fish! That's not to say though that they weren't looking up, because they clearly were. I started in the morning with duo and had a grayling on the HE emerger and a trout on the PT nymph but that was it, so changed to nymphs and dropped a nice grayling on the GRHE on the point, but tempted nothing else. Saw a couple of sips in the early afternoon and decided to switch to the HE emerger again and proceeded to catch sixteen more grayling and four trout, just searching the usual honey holes, and with most fish being non-risers. What they were taking the emerger for, I haven't a clue! Most trout were 8-10" and the best 14". Most grayling were 11-13", with others of 8-10" and the best a 15" 1.25 pounder. All in fine fettle and all returned. Planned to stay for a hoped for evening rise but was knackered decided to give up at 6 p.m.! All in all, a rather strange day but a pleasantly rewarding one. Grayling can be so obliging can't they!

Mainly sunny warm day, prospected with small drab klinks to land 4 at 8 to 11", many more missed or refused at last second in the clear stream. Very enjoyable, although the lady currently in the yurt at the start of the beat did not know there may be fisherman around until I explained. Completed the beat early so stopped at the Lower Henllan beat on the way home - see separate report.

Had 90 minutes in the late afternoon and had a great bonus time! Not many rises but the trout were very willing to have a go at grey based para dries, landed 6, 3 at 8 to 10", 1 at 13" and 2 at 14" - the heavyweights were out! Shame I had to leave because I am sure the trout had not stopped, but very happy with this, and 10 overall from the Honddu on the day.

The weather looked perfect - a soft warm day with high cloud. Fish were enjoying themselves too - plenty of fly lie around in the air, only saw a few yellow mays and olives hatching though. River getting very low but that does mean areas that can otherwise be difficult to access are available to cover. Trout to 10" and lovely fat grayling to 17". All fish caught on dries - para ginger quill, deerhair sedge and Griffiths gnat. A clonker blipping in a deep channel took the gnat and took me straight down to the rocks and cut the leader - ho hum!
