No sign of any salmon moving anywhere. One of the brown trout caught was a wild fish of about 2lbs, a nice bit of compensation for the effort put in by the salmon. There was plenty of water and a lively hatch of a variety of different insects in the evening.

Read JD from Porthcawls recent comments with interest. I too usually try the para adams first and often stick with it. Today I thought I might try alternatives, and usefully there were all sorts of hatches going on, during and between showers. River clear but with good flow. By the end of the day I had used a small iron blue, medium grey duster, and larger mid and light olives, trying to match colour and size of what was around. All caught fish, I landed 15 from 7" to 11", the largest ones on the light olive including a much bigger one that came off when jumping. All from the faster runs and heads of pools. Fascinating and rewarding day, must try to keep flexible and use the fly box!!

Had a lovely time, caught one or two fish on small CDC before heavens and dropped a monsoon on us and turned the river the colour of chocolate. So sadly we had to finish at lunch time but we will be back thank you.

I only had time to fish for about an hour. One brownie of around 6 inches caught on a dry klinkhammer. I saw one other fish move, but I wasn't there very long. It was rainy with a bit of wind. It's a beautiful beat though and I will return when I have more time.
Directions were spot on.

Very easy booking system and great service when I called up to change dates etc. Very enjoyable few hours spent on this beat late afternoon into the evening. 12 fish taken on the long nymphs (french leader) all fish between 10 and 15 inches in length. Some tricky wading...if anyone finds a pair of polarized Oakleys...they're mine! Haha
will definitely return soon. Many thanks and well done.

The water was high and dark with recent rain. Nasty squalls made the going hard and, after some hours with only one good take on a nymph, I beat a retreat. PS there are a lot of plastic bottles, probably from the river in spate, on the riverbank. I took away what I could, but it needs looking at.
