I spent the day at the lower end of the fishery. There were some yellow sallys and one or two mayflies hatching. Nothing caught but I felt that I was fishing correctly for the conditions if there were fish about. The Channels are a much more accessible part of the beat.

Wasn't expecting much and wasn't disappointed; water warm as a bath and green as grass.
Lots, 100+, small Chub in under the overhanging trees and bushes feasting on the fly hatches with bigger fish in the faster water of the Bridge pool so looking really good for the start of the coarse season at Foy Bridge. The Creel section had numbers of Dace and big Chub taking flies off the top right in the margins. Time to dust off the centrepin!

A midday / early afternoon session hoping to see if any Mayfly still about but unfortunately nothing hatching. Not much of anything actually bit a few fish noodling around on top here and there in the slow water, and the usual low and slow approach bought me a few risers to a small tan klink. One of these was a super fish that might have gone 15inch if laid out flat on the grass. Superb condition and superb colours and the gill plates looked like burnished Abalone. Fantastic. Dropped another one off of very similar size shortly after and spooked another in the shallows. All in the vicinity of the big corner pool with the tree in the middle of it.
The junction pool had quite a few risers way back where the two flow ins meet on the bank, they where having me at it with what they where taking, I thought after a good few fly changes, but then remembered I hadn't degreased the tippet for a good while , did so and bingo up they came to a small parachute Adams but hitting them way back there was hit and miss so gave them best after one fish. The call of the Crown and a pint of Butty helped the submission!

Very quiet on the top of the water this evening which is a bit unusual for here , even the 'banker' runs didn't bring a riser despite best efforts. Maybe it was the rather cool and very gusty wind coming down the valley? Who knows, there's always next time! Could do with a good flush through though (as they all can I'm very sure) and looking at the gauges this evening they have it. Hurrah !

A good day's fishing, the river was clear. Most fish came in the last hour of light on the run in to sewage pool, P-T Nymph on point and Invitica on the dropper casting to rising fish which were feeding on insects fallen from the bushes. Cast tight to bushes, had 5 and lost 4 from 9pm to 10.30pm all around 3/4lb. Fantasic sport. Sun with cloud for most of the day. The other fish came from a team of 3 wets flies throught the beat.

Booked this, a favoured beat, for an easier ride after the Clettwr yesterday. Arrived to find a thirsty stream, I would say you could have walked between the the banks in your slippers all the way to the "no fishing" section before changing into your Wellies ! One 10in wbt to a Griffiths gnat, now affectionately known between the shared rod as the "G Gnat" for its success on the streams.

I had a couple of spare hours this morning. In spite of the river being on it's bones and hardly any flow there were a few risers to be seen. Managed two trout, one of which was 10 inches. Both took a Kite's Imperial which is a reliable early season fly on this beat. The fish were taken in identical locations, just as the shallow run entered the neck of the pool.
