A tough day - crystal clear water, and bright sunlight all day - but a terrific beat to fish. All attempts with nymphs and spiders produced only nips and tugs; the only fish caught were off the top to small olive emergers. Loads of fly-life, and numerous fish rising, but no luck connecting. We will try again !

Only had morning which was shared with many dogs swimming for sticks ( and in one case my line !) and people paddling. But hey it was a sunny sunday in a popular location !.
Decent hatch ( olives ? ) but few rises possibly due to disturbance. Could have been productive later in the day.

A bright sunny day with little wind, water conditions low and clear.
Started off on the dry and had one brownie immediately, however after two hours I only managed to rise one more fish which I missed.
Switched to the reliable GHRE and managed to get a few more, nothing above six inches.
Saw quite a few fish, mostly swimming away from my clumsy approach.

Last minute trip up the usk, booked at mid day,,...don't bother if it's warm and sunny,,,dogs in the river, children in the river,,the bottom half of beat was quite but not the best as a lot of slow moving 20/24 inch water,,,had a few fish to 1bs,,nymphs euro style.
As we got our bearings couldn't believe the ajacent beat down stream is dinas, and costs almost twice the price as this beat, could of been worse,we could see kids/ youngsters / dogs in the river on dinas beat, and for£30 a day wouldn't of been to happy.

Had an enjoyable morning on this lovely stretch which we had not fished before. Apart from the fish which was landed another three were hooked and lost in the first hour all on nymphs after which conditions seem to change perhaps due to it being a lovely hot and very sunny day? Some interest shown in dries but no firm takes. All fish were around the one pound mark.
Unfortunately we were disturbed by a middle aged couple in a canoe coming through the beat who claimed to know nothing of the canoeing restrictions which apply at this time of year.
Never the less we really liked the stretch and will be back!

No fish caught. Wading was difficult as the water level was quite high, at least for us.
