Weather grey and misty. River up and running fast. Usual pegs not really fishable as there was a lot of debris, in particular leaves and branches, in the water. Nevertheless we managed to get 15 chub (up to 4.5lb) and one very nice dace! Hard work but enjoyable. Our thanks to Ian, the Care Taker, who was welcoming and helpful.

Pleasant day with river falling a little to about +14". Conditions seemed perfect and Don did his best to put us on the fish but the cooling water seemed to conspire against us and despite deliberate tactics of baiting and not baiting spots whilst trying a range of bait options in deep and shallow water, we struggled to find the fish during daylight. Nevertheless, sticking it out towards dark did result in one chubby barbel of about 7lbs and a pretty chub going about 4lbs.
Frankly, the fish did not play their part, took no account of all our planning and preparation and ignored the best meats and pellets money can buy. Someone should speak to them about their attitude! Who's in charge?
Thanks WUF - another better option than working.

A difficult day. We tried various parts of the beat from the bottom to the far end with no success until the afternoon when we managed three barbel to about 8lb from around the middle part of the beat, and 3 chub.

River looked perfect. We tried just about every bait in our bags and only managed to catch 1 barbel of about 7lb. Very disappointing that the chub did not want to feed either.

River a little too high but we managed 7 grayling to 16", and one out of season brown. Some on a pink bug but most on dry grayling steel blue. All fish returned.
