Early start to find height perfect but a bit of unexpected colour clearing through the day. Fellow rod Steve took a fish later which showed my timing or competence was the issue - probably the latter !

1 Barbel and 1 chub.

None caught, had few takes on dry but missed them. River was full and slightly discoloured.

A lovely day's fishing although we had to leave relatively early (2.30pm) to get back to London. There were fish rising on the flats 100 or so yards up from the bridge. Caught 3 trout (to about 1lb) on Olive imitations. There were Grannom, the odd Large Dark Olive, many smaller Olives and the occasional Yellow May Dun, all on the water at various times and the water level and clarity were both excellent. Great fun.

The river gauge was up from its average level and the water was a bit coloured so this made the fishing fairly tough. We caught the odd fish on dries but most fish were taken on a nymph. We caught 11 brown trout in total.

Shaggy venue for a not so experienced river angler. Lost a bit of gear but it is a very nice stretch of the river. I didn't catch any Barbel that I was after although I did lose two by hook pulls. However the day wasn't lost as there were plenty of Chub to keep me entertained. 7 Chub on the day varying from 2.5lbs to 5lbs. All but one caught on the lower end of the beat. A lot of eals about as well, caught at least just as many. All touch ledgered with meat. In the evening I tried a bit of trotting which resulted in many Dace. Had a lovely day. Thanks WUF.

Flow quite fast on day 1. Water coloured. A few nice chub (5) to 5lb. One barbel 6lb 4oz. Next day water lower and slower with less activity. Just the two chub. A few lost fish. Lovely stretch and enjoyed it.

River looked really good but struggled for most of the day to find the fish. Ended up with brace of barbel at 8lb and a 5lb chub. All on 8mm pellet. Nice looking stretch.

This was our first time at this beat, the location and surroundings were stunning, the river looked perfect so expectations were high. We walked down to the bottom of the beat and fished a couple of swims just before the bend. Excellent start, I caught 2 barbel in the first hour 1 at 6lb and the other about 8lb. Then it switched off for the rest of the day. We fished 8 swims between us. J managed to find the odd barbel from a couple of swims. It wasnt untill the last hour that the barbel switched on again. J ended with 6 barbel to 8lb and I only had the 2 barbel from the first swim in the morning. Very very hard going, can't explain it. Maybe we copped it on a bad day.
