An early morning session which resulted in a fish first cast and plenty of knocks and taps. Unfortunately this attention was from a shoal of small Chub. One Barbel of 4lb 6ozs showed up mid session but the Chub returned and I finished up with 6 of these to 3lb 14ozs before leaving to catch the tennis. NB Despite the low river, Wyebank is still pushing through at a good pace and looks great, I'm sure that the evening would have produced more fish - maybe next time.

My 2 friends fished this beat starting at 4ish in the morning because we were staying at Flanesford priory (3rd year now). They started with a flyer 2/3 of the way out on the beach swim in the faster flow. They caught 5 barbel and 1 chub on halibuts and then went dead about 9ish in the morning. Decided to make our way home because of the long journey and knowing it wouldn't pick up till late evening.

With the weather predicted to be 28c and wall to wall sunshine it didn't look to be ideal conditions. However fishing Courtfield it seems to always produces the results. Fishing down in the wooded area pellet and feeder approach produced 13 barbel plus a couple of chub. This was fishing from 8am to 6pm so not the most productive time of the day. It was wonderful to be fishing the river again. Although the river was very low the fight from these fish was fantastic. With this please be very careful and ensure they are well rested before releasing them back into the river. Especially with the high water temps too. The largest barbel was caught by A and was 9lbs 3oz, he also had the largest chub of 4lbs 7oz. Could have caught many more however the hot temperatures took it's toll and so we called it a day very early. Still the best beat on the Wye I believe.

Very difficult conditions, very hot period of weather and low river conditions. Had 4 takes connecting with the one fish which was around 6 inches. Hard to assess due to drought conditions but have done well here in the past. All takes came to a size 16 klinkhammer.

Two of us struggled for a bite on a lovely day in the Wye valley. Tried a couple of spots for over 6 hours with only a solitary chub to show for our efforts.

River was low, a very hot and sunny day. Very few fish rising, was able to tempt 2 wbt on a cream CDC dun in size #14 (from different pools). Both fish around 6 - 8 inches. Spooked several very good sized fish (maybe 1.5lb'ers) on a deep channel glide - I'll be back before the season's out to try my luck again. A favorite spot that has given me blanks, but never failed to deliver on enjoyment of the surroundings and the challenge of fishing it.
