Fishing on dry fly. No fish taken (or seen). Water very dark after heavy overnight rain. Blustery conditions made casting difficult.

One very small chub. Nevertheless, the rain held off and I enjoyed being by the river.

A beautiful stretch of water! We arrived early and chose our spot, I struggled until about 1600 catching 4 nice chub on pellet, then after 4pm the Barbel began showing, all taken on pellet. JT had a fantastic day trotting with a float with pellet. 34 Chub later......
Thanks to the Wye and Usk.

Be prepared to take a walk on the wild side, the path to the beat is chest high with vegetation, not wishing to trample the crops I ploughed through it and was soaking wet by the time I reached the bank (be warned). Not much flow despite recent showers. Two good size Barbel early on in the slow water and some Chub furher down where the flow speeds up past the Island. The walk down to the beat would put me off booking again. I understand there is a footpath behind the church, could we not use that?

Gorgeous looking beat and lovely day. I fished quite a few different swims and caught barbel in 3 - the largest was 7, the rest 5-6lbs. The chub were mostly 2.5ish or less and I managed to catch my first eel in about 20 years. There were only a couple of anglers the other side, so plenty of swims were fishable. Many thanks WUF.

River started to rise about 2pm after a blank morning. Continuous rafts of weed came down so for the sake of sanity packed up about 6pm after having to move back up the shingle bank at the Pylons swim several times as the river rose. One barbel and lots of lost tackle. Fishing opposite bank (Upper Holme Lacey) tomorrow without much anticipation.
