Water clearing after rain previous day and steady downstream breeze. Tried wet and dry without success until 7pm when short rise and one 9in trout on small brown dun. Watched an otter fishing for 20mins mid morning. 2 poachers spinning in pool by island who fortunately moved off as we walked up river.
WUF Note: There has been a few reports of illegal fishing in that part of the Usk recently. NRW are aware and are reacting well to any incidents reported to them. If you see suspicious activity, please call their incident line as soon as you can: 0800 80 70 60.

First time fishing Gromain....fished from the right bank & with a foot of water on the gauge. I felt I would have been better off with the salmon rod; Some deep & mysterious runs along that bank & a couple of salmon moving. However I was trout fishing & doggedly stuck to the dry fly tactics but what was moving was at a difficult distance towards the left bank of a very broad section of the upper Wye.If I fished this section for trout again I would fish from the other bank where one could wade out to the 'trouty' glides. It's great getting to know a new stretch of river, espescially in such beautiful surroundings & I feel we are spoilt with such easy online booking with WUF on so many beats. Thanks.

Fished the middle section due to very low water levels. Lots of streamer weed making life difficult. All fish were caught on either pellet or luncheon meat.

Little bit of colour seemed to help, levels remained low. Fish fell to float fished bread and hemp and pellet on the feeder. Very enjoyable day despite somewhat limited access to swims.

Fished boys rock - bit of a squeeze for 2 anglers but managed it. Clear, bright conditions following on from a full day of rain the previous day. Only managed 3 chub all day in the 4lb category. Pellet & feeder tactics.

Area:Lugg & Arrow
Beat:Arrow Titley
Fishing:Trout (River)
No. of Anglers:1
Six beautifully spotted Arrow gems to hand on a very low river. Sizes went from 6inch to 12inch and all in excellent condition. There was bit of fly on the go of varying sorts during the day to keep them looking up and most fish fell to a dark klink .
There where a few good sized spinner clouds (brook duns I think) in the evening and when they fell that got the fishes interest but seemed they where very picky, or maybe it was just me making a hash! Whatever, it was just fab seeing good numbers of fish on the go. Titley is a thoroughly beautiful stretch of river and seems to get a fair number of blanks in the feedbacks. My advice, for what its worth, is to move and wade very very slow and watch and wait. Same as everywhere really! It's a great place to dawdle anyway.
Pay particular attention to the long lovely run below the footbridge. I saw quite a few fish moving there including a couple of very good'uns. Alas, they eluded me! Had a good one in the shallows on the tail there too and missed another so maybe don't skip through there.
Thanks WUF, happy days....

Great venue for one or two rods. Levels remained stubbornly despite the previous day's rainfall although there was some colour in the water. Five chub each, averaging around 3lb. Float fished bread and pellet feeder accounted for most fish.

All fish were taken from the deeper water at the top end of the beat, apart from 2 chub which fell to freelined baits in the shallows. Most fish caught in the evening including 1 eel on pellets or meat. River was low & clear, not as many canoes as expected. A very plesent day in the sunshine, thanks wuf.

Two x 4 fish ticketd - zip nil returns. Pitty as I'm now in PCH having had knee replacement and won't be angling for a while and my grandson who is just starting was disapointed. Also freezing up there.
