Caught here on ledgered pellet and feeder. The two swims upstream from the car park. Access was ok and thankfully the canoeists were both few and polite. Barbel up to 8lb and chub from 4 to 6lb. Caught steadily through the day.
Good Access to the swims and relatively snag free fishing. Would recommend and will return

Very wet! One trout caught. I have fished this part of the Irfon a few times over the years, the path along the edge of the river has become very overgrown.
Will be back next year.

Fished from 9am until noon, walking upstream from the bottom of the beat using a dry size 14 Adams and was not disappointed. Managed to land 4 fish ranging from 4 to 8" in size although did hook a much larger fish which managed to slip the hook in a fast stretch of water and lots of other takes and rises to my fly. Really enjoyed my three hours fishing and would have stayed longer however as it was our wedding anniversary, felt it was the right thing to return home to prepare dinner!! (Thank you Jan for being such a lovely wife) :) all fish safely returned and hope to return myself shortly!
Also meant to add, watch out for a boggy area of land close to the river where the cattle have been trampling. It's deeper than you think and got stuck in my waders, resulting in a muddy plunge. Luckily no one around to witness the event! Thank you WUF for an entertaining mornings fishing.

Great days fishing today, first time on the stretch, certainly won't be the last! Conditions were obviously just right, a bit of extra water, colour and generally overcast although very wet by the end of the afternoon. 24 barbel between us, from about 4lb and the biggests going 11.1oz. Tactics were just a simple feeder approach and we only fished until about 5:30pm. It is a lovely stretch and looking forward to returning.

8 brownies caught to about 10/12". 6 on a nymph under a dry but two came to the dry. Weather wasn't great and we had pretty constant rain throughout the afternoon.
One word of warning, I've fished this beat a few times in the past and forgot just how tricky the wading can be in places. I forgot my wading stick this time and paid for it with a proper dunking about 15 mins in to the day....far from ideal. The bit that caught me out was a fairly short distance from the first car parking area and was close in to the bank. I was happily wading up to my knees one moment, then came across a black hole and went for a swim. Be aware.

Beat:Ty Newydd
Fishing:Trout (River)
Attended the Tenkara day, fished Ty-Newydd beat in the rain and thoroughly enjoyed it. The guides were very helpful and knowledgeable, I will definitely be back next year if it's repeated. The river was a good level and relatively clear, as a novice wader I struggled a bit but it won't put me off.

Thanks to Roger and Glynn for organising day.

4 Anglers and one guide fished this beat during the Tenkara experience day run by the WUF. All but one angler caught fish. My tally was a salmon parr - released unharmed - and two that 'got away'. One, a good sized grayling which broke the tippet, and a brown trout that simply fell off the hook before being brought to hand.
The Tenkara day was great value and well organised. Pity that it rained heavily all day. I learnt a great deal and would not hesitate to recommend the training day to any angler wishing to know more about tenkara fishing.
One of my colleagues for the day worked for the Environmental Agency in Essex. He was able to give an impromptu tutorial and demonstration of the invertebrate life found under the rocks in the river. As a novice fly fisherman I found this tutorial very interesting and, so, would like to suggest that the WUF run a Stream Invertebrate Identification and Ecology course at some point. I, for one, would be very keen to attend.
