Sunny morning with afternoon becoming overcast. Cool light breeze. Steady trickle of LDO and grannom, very few rises so stuck to nymph patterns. Not much in the way of interest but we managed to connect with three fish, GRHE goldhead seemed to be the preferred lure. The river needs more water to bring it to life. Great day. We also enjoyed the fly past of two RAF Hercules flying up the valley.

Tried a heavy headed nymph and a few different wet flies such as Mallard & Claret, Greenwells Glory. River quite low.
First time on this beat- absolutely lovely despite no fish!

Only a couple of trout to hand and fair few grayling. all taking 2.5mm baetis nymph on point. not really sure of the trout potential in this part of the lugg as this beat to me screams grayling. the weather was cold wet and cloudy with very limited fly on the water, just the odd ldo. will give it another go end of june when grayling season proper is in full flow and see whether there is also a good head of trout. the lugg like the monnow do take a while to wake up so this may of been the case on this cold wet spring day

A quite warm spring day with lighter winds than of late. Plenty of fly life in the air including several different Olives and Sedge's. Occasional fish rising in the slow sunny pools where I caught 4 on an IOBO size 16. The rest came from the riffles to a Gold head nymph. Biggest of the day around 10 inches. Made it past the waterfall for the first time where there are a couple more nice pools.
