Water clear, no hatches. Even this early in the season very overgrown. Perhaps there was no winter high-water to clear vegetation and blockages. Stream bed a carpet of caddis in the stony sections. Only a dozen or so places to get a cast in though and a very wader-unfriendly wire fence all along the right bank looking upstream.
Plenty of good fish moving in the downstream half, but none rising to dries. I didn't see any moving in the section above the no-fishing area. No fish caught.

10 x trout 6-11 inches, 2 x out of season grayling 12 and 13 inches, Goldbead Hare's Ear nymph and Rusty Klinkhammer. This one seems to be in the process of waking up. The weather was more suitable today, a warm night being followed by cloudy skies. Casting a single nymph upstream in the runs was most effective, but the sight of the odd rising fish in slow pools had me changing tackle now and then.

A bright, mild day on the upper section. We only managed about a third of the beat but saw a few fish rising in the lower pools. We fished a mixture of small drys and small ptn's. We both had a few knocks on the nymphs but nothing landed.

River very low and clear, bright sunshine. Two decent fish on dries, nothing on the nymph despite some very fishy looking water. Trickle of flies hatching, perhaps half a dozen rises all day.

A beautiful stretch of the river Wye, with seats all along which made for a very relaxing day, unfortunately no trout caught only two out of season grayling on the dry fly and then one fish lost, not sure if this was a trout or not.
