Day two on this great venue, but the fish were proving a little hard to find. Even the Gullies that were fishing our side of the bank by wading across from the other side found it hard going, but eventually we caught a few Chub and I had a lovely 11 lb 4 oz Barbel.

1 Barbel, 5 Chub

Water clear but banks overgrown and reeds in the water making some places impossible to fish. When wading a tremendous amount of silt disturbed. No rises seen at all. DG caught all but the minnow.

Autumn has began in the Wye valley, bringing with it beautiful colours and leaf litter to the river. Had a few takes on the bottom mark using nymphs , but couldn't connect. Switched to dries around midday and had success with a sherry spinner size 14, landing a 12 oz grayling in the armies pool. Fished right up to the top mark and had a busy 30 minuted on the Erwood pool landing 3 grayling and a 12 oz trout on a klinkhammer size 14, lost two others. River running at a decent height today. Great place to pass a few hours in autumn. Like what they've done to the old fishing lodge, ie knocked it down and replaced it with a building that suits the surroundings.

1 Trout, 4 Grayling
