The first-time fishing Edw Aberedw – although we had some decent rain a few days before the river seemed a little low. Looking over the bridge before we started our session we saw no fish at all – nothing moving, and it was like that for most of the day.
I had 4 very small WBT to a mix of Hares Ear and a small brown dry.
Even though there was a lack of fish that did not spoil a great days fishing.

A really enjoyable day's fishing even there weren't many fish to be seen and those we did see were all small, in the 3 to 4 inch range.
I had one small brownie and missed a few more on a Goldbead Hare's ear.
It was the first time I had fished at Aberedw and only the second time fly fishing a river so a lack of experience may have had a lot to do with (almost) lack of fish.

Staying in Hay-on-Wye for the weekend with my wife. After a visit to Symonds Yat and Tintern Abbey grabbed a cheeky couple of hours fishing before dinner. Pretty beat with a good head of trout but the bank vegetation impossible to navigate so plenty of chest-deep wading along side some of the deeper pools!!! Managed 4 wbt to about 9 inches on a Parachute Adams before returning for dinner - Tomatitos in Hay which is super-friendly and well worth a visit.

First of two days. We fished up near the parking at the orchard. While swim access was difficult it was possible with a bit of care to find safe areas to fish. It was tough going for the barbel but the chub fed avidly. The barbel all came late in the day with the biggest going 6 1/2 lbs. Biggest chub was about 4 lbs. For me the best part of fishing there was the peace and quiet. No traffic noise. Very few walkers and only a small number of canoes compared to some of the other stretches I’ve fished.

Weather overcast and raining for most of the day which made the banks very slippery. River still brown coloured from the algae bloom. Fished the wood crib. All fish caught on meat, couldn’t buy a bite on pellet.
