A very difficult venue. Needed to find the faster flowing water. Very few pegs accessible. Walked all the way to the bottom of the beat, nettles up to your arm pits. Had to make my own peg in the woods. The barbel we're in the middle in the main flow caught 2 lost 1.Then the boat traffic turned up they also went down the middle
This stretch needs some TLC. It could be good

We were hoping that heavy rain the day before might have raised the river level and got rid of the algae bloom. Sadly the river was very low and still coloured brown. Lots of floating streamer weed which was a nuisance. Nearly all fish caught in the last two hours.

Endless stream of boats one young lad banged his boat with his paddle when he saw us and kept it up for several hundred yards. The fish were deep in the snags and nothing in the normal runs. As the boats died off a massive diesel pump was fired up thumping away to water adjacent crops. Not what I hoped for my guests..... A complete waste of money I’m afraid.

We arrived at around 11:00 to find two young lads fishing at the bottom of the beat, in fact on the boundary with the lower beat (Gromain?). We asked if they had had any success and, whilst they replied, they appeared to be a bit coy. We did not challenge them as this is a 5 rod beat and in theory they could have booked their slots; it was notable that they were gone pretty soon after we arrived. Also on arrival we spotted a canoe towards the far bank travelling downstream. Our discussions with the young lads meant that we did not challenge the canoeist (retrospectively we guessed that the low water levels meant that the gauge at Llanstephan would not be above the red line, but could not be sure).
Fishing was tough but we did manage to catch 7 small (6" or smaller) trout towards the bottom of the beat, all on winged olive dries. There were long periods of no surface activity at all and then sudden bursts of rises for about 10 minutes. Very few hatches were evident. Two further slightly larger (8-10") trout followed and one nice grayling around 12" long. The water level is very low which made wading quite easy but fishing challenging.
9 Trout, 1 Grayling
