2 small salmon parr and several trout caught. Most of the trout were small, but had two or three decent size.
Very hot and sunny day so really not good conditions for fishing, and the river was rather quiet.
As has been said many times the beat has become very overgrown, and access to the river is difficult. I was with Chris Price (see castingwithstyle.co.uk) who is a fabulous guide and was able to take me to the best parts and easier access points. If Chris hadn't have been with me it would have been really difficult.
I love the Fishing Passport scheme but really feel they need pay attention to these matters when people are paying money to fish.

A tough day on a beautiful beat. 2 of us leapfrogged our way up the valley fishing at very close querters in very clear water. As usual the Clettwr was extremely challenging throughout the bottom half, but it did give up some fish. Most fish taken on nymphs with a variety of improvised casting techniques used.

Lovely day back again on my favourite stretch of the Wye - more water than usual and looked fishy
Arrived about 0930 and saw someone else at the top end so started at the middle.
Sadly despite my best efforts no fish seen or caught other than bycatch minuscule brownie near The Rocks
- I blame the weather which was very hot (30 +) but someone else managed a good fish on the same beat
that day so a poor excuse
Wading warning in a couple of spots :
There are a couple of very glassy rocks at the top of the island beat - just below where one usually stands to cover the best bits. Be very careful as slipped twice here this time.
At the top end neck of the Rectory stream it is appealing to wade out but can be difficult to get back against the current.
I have come a cropper here before and nearly did again this time.
Retired to the fishing Hut at about 4pm to listen to Stokesy put the Aussies to the sword so all in all not a bad day
Until next time

This was my first time fishing the Usk, Llangynydr is a stunning location not far from Crickhowell , a very small village but lots of people here today as there was a festival happening.
Access to the river is good , parking is pretty close , lovely little shop in the village where you can get a slice of cake and a cuppa , which I did , very nice !
The track along the river is very rocky and slippy , if your not very surefooted be careful, I love anything like this though .
Unfortunately there were lots and lots of swimmers in here today , lots of commotion , it was to be expected though due to the great weather, and it being a bank holiday weekend .
Gave the fishing a good go but no success today , but on the positive side a great day here on the Usk , just beautiful. Will return in early spring when it’s less busy
