Fished the Courtfield section today. Weather was warm and sunny good day 4 barbel caught all around the 5lb mark and one chub around 4lb. Standard feeder tactics used and moved swims regular throughout the day. It is worth mentioning that the stretch is very overgrown especially the "meadow" which resembles more of a jungle. swims can be difficult to access. The wood section is very snaggy as described on other posts.

Fished one of the cribs, could have been Thomas Wood crib. Looked an absolute peach of a swim but sadly did not produce to my methods and approach.

A calm day with little wind so should, I would have expected, to have been a good, top of the water day. Some midge around and fluttering stonefly. Very few pale wateries coming off and nothing else either. Not surprisingly, very few rising fish but caught those which were, and some which weren't, on a size 18 HE emerger and a grizzle Elk. Caught most of the fish though on a jig Duracel variant and a pink shrimp. Disappointing at this time of the year to already have to resort to the heavy artillery, when there ought to be more small upwings around, accompanied rising fish........ I remember, back in the good old days etc etc.............!!!!!!! Trout 12-14" and grayling mainly 13-15 inches. A lovely day.

Thanks Colin for your help...It was a lovely peaceful sunny day. We got a chub and a barbel within about half an hour of setting up (12 ish). And then got a chub mid afternoon. Then at about 20 past 6 we got the second barbel which was a big one. We had used up our phone batteries so couldn't take a piccy, and we didn't have scales either ( now on order!) but we think maybe 9lb or 10lb

Bright sunny day - 20C

No fish rising.
Used PTN - no success
Gold Head PTN - 1 little trout > 6 inches.
Accomodation at Kilsby House was superb.

A tough day at the office for us as the water level was low and the sun was shining brightly, but we managed to find a few fish in the afternoon.
