A slow day but great fun in a beautiful spot. All small fish about 1/2-3/4 of a pound plus a swallow that took the dropper whilst the rod propped against the bank and I was unhooking a fish. Netted and returned undamaged to flight.

Stopped off at the Edw, which looked a little too high and coloured after a heavy shower, and went on to the Duhonw, which was clear but running at quite a pace. Fished up between the two road bridges with nymphs which produced a couple of small brownies and a salmon parr.

River higher than normal and very pacey, just managed to hold bottom using a 3 ounce feeder but still a very good days fishing. Barbel range from 5lb 3oz to 8lb 14oz and chub up to 4lb 8oz.

Good flow on. Fish ranging from 4lb to 9lb 7oz. Lost two good fish to the willow tree a little way downstream.
Canoe traffic relatively light in view of the higher water.

The rivers had been up and colored for a while. Thankfully the Irfon deserves its reputation for clearing quickly and I manged to get a reasonable day's fishing.
By late morning there were a few Stonefly coming off the water as well as one or two upswings. The fish however were not looking up. Swung a nymph on the point and a Black and Peacock spider on the dropper and picked picked up a few nice fish. The fish were mainly in the back half of the pools.
