Had to remove heras fencing from the approach road to the fishery, 12 panels had blown onto the road...when I finally arrived to the river it was a good level and clarity was good, temps still low so decided deadbaits in deeper slow water would be the main approach for the day. Quite mild for January however the wind was horrible and squally.

Worked all of the downstream deeper areas with deadbaits but no interest, tried off the bottom and on it plus leaving for an hour. Also moving it everything few minutes but nothing could tempt a take. Tried lures in the deep areas but nothing doing.

Made my way back up to the Weir Garden area at 3pm then the wind decided to stop. Put the deadbait gear in the car and decided to try the fly. 3rd cast in the boat house swim and had this mint 14lber, saw her take the fly...brilliant!

Perhaps if I had fished the top area for longer I would of had more success as its alot more sheltered. Thankfully the fencing was still up when I made my way home.

Very tough conditions and lots of walking, we were rewarded with 1 pike for our efforts.

Float fished red maggots on very light centre pin tactics. Weather was unseasonably warm at about 11degrees with some light rain and very blustery conditions.

Very enjoyable day, booking was very easy via website and Alison, my guide for the day Oliver Burch was outstanding and very good company, I will be back!

Very windy and blustery with accosional showers. River at normal levels and clear. The grayling were hard to find. I fished heavy nymphs and only managed two smallish grayling. There were two other anglers on the beat, but plenty of space for us all. I parked at the caravan site, and made the mistake of pulling onto the grass rather than the hard starting. This was silly of me, and resulted in a rather stern note on my windshield and then a prolonged telling off from the manager.

We fished from around midday until dusk despite being very quiet. Just one lost fish and a few pulls between us. Tried a range of nymphs at various depths but the usual spots weren't producing today. Still nice to be back on the river after too many months
