First time fishing the Irfon and was impressed by the variety of water but was hard going with low gin clear water and bright sunshine. Saw some good sized fish and lots of rises (mainly sporadic) but was hard enough getting close enough to cast without spooking them. Picked up a few on a griffiths gnat and lost a couple where I could cast from the bank including an oos grayling. The bigger of the 2 trout was 13". Not much in the way of fly life whilst I was there. Very nice place to fish, I'd like to return when the levels a bit higher.

The number recording on the form is not clear however I caught 10 wild browns mostly on a gold head hairs ear nymph. There was a big hatch of buzzers towards evening and I did manage a couple on a small Griffiths gnat but they were very particular.

Parachute Adams type flies, worked well but only in places where fish were seen to be rising. River clear and quite low. Beautiful sunny day, plenty of flies hatching but very limited areas where fish were active.
