River at a good height and with fresh water from overnight rain. Big dries fished in pockets and tight to the edges took all the fish. Shame the wind picked up in the afternoon to make presentation very challenging .
Actually lost count of the number of fish which was likely way over the 50 stated. Mostly small but two or three 1/2lb plus fish .

The access on this beat is a problem. We found three cattle crossings flanked by multiple stranded Barb wire fences. The first two were passable with difficulty. The final one defeated us. No way round on either bank due to yet more Barb wire, cattle on the one bank and horses on the other.
The top third of the best was effectively off limits.
One WBT and a few missed rises between the two of us.

Colour just about ok for fly. Fished down to bottom of beat from car park. No salmon but 2 shad down at Vanstpne. Didn't know they came that far up.

1st time trout fishing on this beat. There is some very nice water to go at. Only fished a couple of hours because of family commitments so only scratched the surface, but managed to land 3 WBT and lost 3 more. A trickle of flies hatching with the occasional trout rising. I will be back.
