Beat:Holme Lacy 3 and Lechmere's Ley

Really tough day weather wise, it was blowing a gale downstream in the morning then very heavy showers all afternoon made roving tricky. Three barbel in all around 6-7 lb plus one chub 3lb and one lost to a hook pull, all fish from the lower end of the beat taken on pellet.

Beat:Lower Crai (R44)

Difficult conditions with strong downstream wind and rain. Lost a good trout (on upstream nymph) which got into fast water where I could do little with it. A good water level but clear. A lovely little river.

Beat:Four Coarse rods fishing Whitehouse

Difficult day weatherwise with strong downstream wind and heavy showers. Also a lot of weed floating downstream making fishing tricky.
Nothing in the morning, better in the afternoon, but persistent heavy rain forced us to pack up, unfortunately just as things had started to pick up !
Finished with a chub of 4lb+(meat)from lower end and and a couple of barbel of 6lb(pellet)and 8.5lb(meat)from top end of beat with one good fish lost(sweetcorn)to a hook pull.
Lovely river, lovely area, shame about the weather ! We will be back.

Beat:Penpont (River Usk)

Three trout caught in two hours on brown klinkhammer including one of 17" below the bridge at Penpont. All returned safely. Many others risen and missed. Lovely beat, easily accessible and worth spending a whole day at.

Beat:Glanusk Estate

Two of us fished from 11.30am until 6.30pm, catching 21 trout up to 14". Water was crystal clear. Sparodic hatches of small olives and sedges kept the odd trout rising throughout the day. 12 caught on small dries (f-flies mostly), the rest on small gold head nymphs. About 1/3 of the trout looked wild, the rest were stocked, some with damaged pectoral fins.

Beat:On coarse fishing at Middle Hill Court (Wye)

Bank holiday canoe traffic made fishing virtually impossible until after about 2 pm as canoes were veering all over the river, one even bumped into the bank in front of me!

I fished a few swims with difficult access and had 6 Barbel between 4pm and 8 pm then finished off with a decent Chub.the best fish was a very hard fighting 9 lb the rest between 6lb to 8 lb.
