A bright day and the wind still had a little 'edge' to it but out of the wind very pleasant and good to be out.Started about 300 yards above the weir and steadily worked my way to the top over the course of about 3 hours. Very little fly in evidence, some micro caddis dipping and one or two larger sedges and even the odd olive around midday but rising fish almost totally absent. Some hawthorn flies high in the bushes but keeping well away from the water! Having said that a super day with fish falling to bead head PT nymphs - size 12/14. Had eight trout to 14" ( most 10-12") and four grayling to 12" - all fish in super condition and the trout were particularly chunky and fought like demons. Fish confined to streamier water. A really enjoyable day on a water new to me. Super wildlife too with woodpeckers, various butterflies, buzzards everywhere! Good to be alive. I shall return.

Stunningly beautiful stretch of water. Some interesting wildlife seen and sparse hatch of large stoneflies. Massive grannom hatch early on, but only the odd fish popping up to the surface. Lost two good fish, but landed no fish between us. Again water extremely low which did not help, but who cares when the scenery and river are looking so magnificent???

I will fish this beat again in the autumn when there is more water around as I am sure it has a lot of potential.

Beautiful day for fishing but just managed 1 trout of about 6 ounces and lost a smaller one. Caught on a gold head PTN, just below the weir.

Some grannom about, but no great response from the fish. Cought 2 grayling, the best just over a pound, both to a dry fly.

Much less in the way of insects hatching but still a few fish rising in some areas. GB - 2, VC - 1. The fish were a good size 2lb +. Picnickers on the bank, stick throwing dog walkers and another angler fishing the right bank did not help the cause.

Nothing landed, one hooked and lost, a couple missed. There were great numbers of large dark olives and grannoms (I think) but few fish rising. This is not the best beat for a sunny weekend afternoon. There were dogs being swum in the river and a large barbecue party on the bank, complete with swimmers and a rubber dinghy!

Stayed over night at Tan House Farm, high recommended. Weather was warmer than previous day, though still no rising fish. Caught 6 Brown 6 -9" and lost 1 somewhat larger. All caught on PTN or GRH in the faster runs.

6 small trout and 1 out of season grayling, nothing much over 8ozs, good fun though and a perfect weather until the thunder arrived in the afternoon. Fished New Zealand syle with all fish falling to the nymph. Only one take on the klinkhammer which I missed.
