Hooked & lost one trout approx 10", hooked, landed & released approx 7" brown trout. 1st time on beat, found directions spot on, had difficulty accessing parts of the beat due to overgrown pathways, found the river too deep & current too strong to wade to unaccessable area's. All in all an enjoyable days fishing, outstanding value.

Difficult days fishing with river running very low and clear. Fished from 8.30am to 9.30pm with nothing caught until 8pm when we managed to catch 4 Barbel and 4 Chub with a couple of Barbel lost. The best Barbel weighed 11Lb 4oz which Adam the bailiff thinks may be the biggest Barbel on the beat due to a distinguishing mark on her dorsal fin, at her best she's weighed 12Lb 6oz (on record). Would love to come back and fish this stretch when the river is in a better condition.

Beautifully strech of water which promised plenty but delivered nothing. Good weather sunny and light showers, saw very very few fish, nothing rising and not a single offer. Maybe next time.

Caught 5 grayling 8"-12" and 3 trout 8"-10". Most fish taken on a gold head p.t.n. and some on a klinkhamer special. Had a number rises to the dry fly but the fish were taking short or missing altogether, hooked 6 which came off. All fish returned.

A nice fishery with the river a little low. However the fish were very hard to find and only a couple of smallish chub. Many canoeists were a real pain, swimming off the croys and a couple capsised in my swim.

One brown trout caught, approx 1lb on an olive dun (size 16), returned in good condition.
Plenty of fish rising in the pools and 'having a look', including a couple that jumped off the hook. A great day and a fantastic beat... already planning our next visit.
Thanks to the W&U staff for their helpful suggestions of this beat too!

River low and clear, loose weed drifting downstream catching line a problem. Hard day, fish seemed wary of pellet, had 1 barbel (8.4) and 2 chub, barbel and best chub to garlic meat. The other anglers on the beat struggled too, only a couple of barbel between them.

Managed to break my current barbel drought at last. Spent the bulk of the day watching my dad hauling chub without getting a single nibble myself. Wet and windy, so I wasn't that keen to go roving, but I'm glad I did, because at about 5pm I found the barbel tightly shoaled up and proceeded to take 7 in 90 mins, averaging 6lb, 7lb the biggest. There seem to be fish all over the stretch, mainly chub, but in low water conditions the barbel obviously hold up in one or two areas. Find these and the sport is very, very good. Not as big as the barbel in some other WUF stretches, but quite willing to eat baits, and many were completely unmarked with no evidence of having been hooked previously. Great day.
