I found this venue quite difficult due to the overgrown banks and the frequency of deep unwadeable pools. Not much fly life - one or two mayflies, yellow mays, olives and some midges. The water was fairly coloured with visibility not much more than a couple of feet. I only saw three or four rises all the time I was there. I had one brown trout, lost one and rose a couple more and that was it.

Brilliant day's fishing, apart from the stunning scenery. Total of over 10 fish, with a brownie up to 3lbs and a number of grayling up to 2 1/2 lbs.

I fished an evening session on a very warm, bright day. I tried a small GRHE fished NZ style in the deeper runs but to no avail. I then cast to several rising fish with a tups indispensible but changed to a small black gnat after chatting with the beat’s owner. Had a couple of tugs but didn’t bring any fish to the net. The beat owner caught a couple of nice WBT on a black gnat - the one he kept was a 2lb fish.

Anglers should be aware of the close proximity of a caravan park to the river. When I arrived to recce the beat earlier in the day there were a couple of dozen people sunbathing and swimming. The last of the happy campers didn’t leave until around 6 pm. This was my first visit to this picturesque beat and I would fish it again - but not in school holidays!

8 x trout 6 - 10 inches, Klinkhammer. This brook usually does its best for the angler, but has become very low. A series of still pools with trickles between them. Little trout lying out on the shallow pool tails where they are very easily spooked.

Attractive stretch of river but very low water and a bright day meant that few fishing were feeding on the surface. I saw one small rise above the weir and put my fly over it. The fish sipped in the fly, I set the hook and then the fish puuled back and snapped the 7x tippet so I suspect it may have been an escaped rainbow!

River still very low and gin clear. Caught a 2lb grayling on a Mayfly nymph in a deep current. Lots of Himalayan Balsam growing up.

Sorry for the delay in returning but due to a week away on holiday PC time has been limited.
A tough day that from memory was very very windy. Only saw a handful of rises all day so fished nymphs nearly all day with the odd change to klink and dink.
Caught 2 x Dace (I believe) of about 9" and 2 x Grayling all fish taking the nymphs and returned to the water safely.

After a delayed morning start (at about 11.45am), owing my not having enough passport vouchers with me - but saved by Allyson at WUF office, I had a ball on this little brook. No fish were showing but they were soon tempted by my offerings - Paragon 90% and Superpupa 10% of time being my choice for the day. Every little pool and riffle contained fish, albeit that some were small, and there were a few Danica and Sedges in evidence as well as a pair of Dippers. I fished all the way through to the top of the beat by about 5.00pm and my estimated catch for the day was 20+ trout from 3" to 11" with a majority in the 6" to 8" range. I also met the occasional dog and owner, children on half-term and a 'local' worming the Gauging station pool.I did explain that WUF now controlled fishing on this stretch but he didn't want to hear!
I found my knee-pads really made a difference on this Lilliputian water and I would certainly recommend them to others, and my little 6ft rod was ideal for this water too, anything longer would be very difficult to use.

Three WBT 9inch best on GH nymphs, mid-day rather disappointing, evening much more productive with fish rising to dries quite often. Shame I had leave early, something to come back to...
Beautiful sunny day, low and clear water, light upstream wind, salmon jumping...thank you WUF. Will be back sooner rather than later.
