2 of us fished pellet feeders on a day that was unseasonably sunny and hot and a river that was low and clear, so less than ideal conditions.
Before stopping for lunch at 12 noon, it was relatively slow with just a single barbel gracing the net. We returned refreshed at 3.30 pm and the action became fast and furious, bringing our combined catch up to 19 barbel, including a 10.03 and five 9s. We also had chub to just over 5lb.
What a superb stretch of river this is and what a high average weight for Wye barbel. We can't wait to re-visit.

Very hot day and you need to travel light at this fishery or be very fit. Steep hill to negotiate. Caught five Barbel and three Chub between us on pellet and corn. Asked for my ticket by Bailiff who was very helpful. Excellent fishery.

No action - not even a sign of a fish. I really do like this beat however - very wild with abundant birdlife - particularly around the ox-bow. Saw an otter on the island above Butlers.

Beat:Gromain & Upper Llanstephan
Fishing:Salmon

No salmon caught or seen. Day stared really well with heavy rain and good water level but fish did not want to play the ball. Urgent matters made abandon fishery early afternoon but I'll be back soon to have some more of that tough love what is salmon fishing.

Started off the day slow, ended up with 7 barbel to 9lb on chopped down boilies and groundbait. A word of warning, if you are fishing this beat in the rain take some boots with a deep grip on them as the banks are steep and very slippery. Yours truly taking a dip up to his neck...
Also this beat is a bit tackle hungry, take plenty of feeders/leads. I would advise casting more downstream than across the river as the boulders are a nightmare and the flow just bounces your rigs into them.
A day of ups and downs but one of the nicest places I have ever fished.
