River rose fast on the Friday - lots of weed and debris coming through so very difficult to hold bottom for more than a few minutes. One rod did manage a few barbel and a chub from a tight inside run. Saturday was still a day for dodging the debris but less persistent than the day before, river was down a few inches - we caught about a dozen barbel, all on pellet. One rod had 2 pike to 15lbs from a very unlikely looking swim. Sunday was great - river had fallen about 6 inches and very little debris in the river. One rod fished the morning and had 8 barbel in 8 casts from the top of the fishery, another had a couple from the Vanstone pool. We had all left by lunchtime but one rod returned in the evening for another 7 barbel. Salmon were seen 'jumping' all 3 days - wonderful wildlife around the place - fascinating river dynamics. We loved it, thanks WUF.

First time on this beat, river up and covering the croys completely. Lots of weed and debris coming down so could only fish a rod length out, finished with 1 chub. Very picturesque and will return here next summer.

Good to see the river with colour and extra water on arrival but not the masses of weed it carried down the whole day. Impossible to keep a bait in the water for moe than a few minutes at a time so only option was to fish close in. Despite this limitation two rods caught 6 stunning barbel between 6-8 lbs and two good chub up to 4lbs. Confident that more would have been caught without the weed, but nonetheless a most enjoyable day on this picturesque new beat.

Slight increase in water level and flow compared with the the previous meant lots of weed making fishing very difficult. Only fished for an hour without any bites.

Quite a slow start to the day, as the river was still really low and clear. 1 Barbel caught in the morning and a few Chub. Improved in the afternoon after a change of swims, when 1 rod caught 6 Barbel on small (8mm) pellets and a few more Chub to the other rods.

Started fishing fly down the Rock pool at 7.30 a.m. River at summer level. At 8.30 on Chine 4 or 5 fish moved. Was wading up to waist high, fishing with intent and fancying my chances. Suddenly I was aware that river was cocoa coloured, up to my armpits and roaring along. Managed to just get out in time, narrowly escaping a good dunking! Fishing then impossible due to floating trees, leaves dead sheep etc. I was unaware that 3/4 inch of rain fell in the Brecon area last night. River rose 18 inches in 4 hrs. Still there's always next year! Thanks to the WUF staff. Until next spring......
