A great morning's salmon fishing on Courtfield and JC's first Atlantic salmon. From Detroit and normally at home amongst the steelhead JC's morning started with one jack pike after another until a take from a salmon was followed by a lovely conditioned fresh fish of about 10lbs from between Legg meadow and Wood crib falling to a black and silver flying c on barbless hooks. This was followed by another fish of similar size which shook off and a fish twice the size, probably in the twenties which also got off. These were in the boat pool. I have no doubt had JC been fishing with barbed hooks he would have had two if not three salmon. Fly fishing down Wyebank in the afternoon produced no takers.

An average days fishing, river fast running and clear. One 12in Brownie caught, on a dry, (klinkhammer), two lost. If I wasnt moving to Yorkshire shortly I would certainly return to this one again.

River looked in fine fettle but unfortunately the fishing didn't quite live up to expectation. A few small chub and dace but a couple of nice brownies, 2 grayling and a decent 4lb Chub made the day enjoyable.

A great day. Not starting until 11.30 P. C. and J. F. fly fished down Wyebank with black and yellow tube, no takers but great looking runs and pools. Jim had a pull in the run downstream from the island. Changed over to Courtfield 1.30 and P.C. had a lovely 15lb fish to black and silver flying c after getting through the jack pike, followed by a very well mended kelt and minutes later a big fish on proved to be a fabulous 38.5 inch salmon 24.5 lbs on the Sturdy scale. This was followed by another good kelt. "A great day it was and a superb beat. I will be back."

11 Barbel and 1 Chub all on pellet. Bit of a strange day had 7 barbel by 11.30 and then had liners on nearly every cast up until 4.30. Great end to the season, in three trips I have caught 31 Barbel and 12 Chub, and the winter fishing has been fantastic. Thanks to the WUF for a great season.

No fish caught but we are not sure we were fishing the correct beat, there was no signs to say if we were on the correct bit of river or even the correct beat. This was due to the roads around the area being blocked off to extensive road works, and no sign giving alternate route. We therefore fished a part of the river that may or may not have been part of your passport.

The sun broke through about 3-30,which allowed us to fish until 6-30. We had a good day with 12 Barbel and 2 Chub being caught between us. Les had a 4lb 10oz Chub trotting with maggots. We both agreed this was a good result to end the season on. Thanks to you all at W&U see you next season.

Cold and foggy morning which improved by 2.00 p.m. No luck with fly rod and limited areas for casting on the west shore. Reverted to the spin rod which landed two 1.5lb rainbows late morning. A number of worm fishers were on the east shore. West shore could do with some work to improve casting areas.
