I only fished the first swim under the power lines, (having read earlier reports) and feel I made the right decision. The barbel are late this year, only just spawning at the end of June. I was therefore delighted to catch a real beauty of about 10lb, (I'm more interested in getting the fish back in the water than weighing it!) The chub put up a spirited show and a good sized salmon in the nearby pool was on show all day.
The barbel was taken free-lining a large lump of luncheon meat down stream, the chub on a variety of pellets and meat. An excellent day.
The parking instructions are a bit suspect, otherwise all was good from the WUF.

Great fishery, beautiful scenery. Two rods both fishing for Barbel/Chub. 5 Barbel 5lbs and up, best 8lbs. 3 Chub best 4lbs. All fish were in excellent condition, although a couple of Barbel slightly thin across their backs. A great day first time on the Wye.

Very windy day and a hint of colour to the water.Did not see a fish all day except for the one that I landed. Not a bar of silver but not far off.Backed into a swan when playing the fish it had two signets with him,I felt like piggy in the middle, both the fish and the swan went mad. I moved up stream landed and released the fish and the swan calmed down. The salmon was around 15lb.

Arrived at dawn and fished upstream end of beat until 5pm. Caught first fish 3 1/2 lb chub at 7.30am and then two 6 lb barbel before 9.00am. Then no more bites for rest of day. All fish caught on 10mm halibut pellet fished over bed of hemp. Grass track gave easy access along length of beat but only about 6 fishable swims due to heavy bankside vegetation. Enjoyed day.

Whatever happened to flaming June? Here we are with the days getting shorter but its still cold enough to fog our breath. This malarkey does not get any more predictable after 50 years of piscatorial perambulations.
With precipitation to the fore even the sheep couldn't be bothered to run away from us. But the fish did. What a struggle - despite a decent hatch. We finally managed a brownie each - a sympathy vote by the fish I think - but gave up at 4, cold and wet. Ah well - perhaps the weather might be better by Thursday?

Started at two oclock with fly but wind was difficult and by three I'd changed to spinning. Landed 9lb hen fish in Rock pool on copper/red fc. Single hook made for easy release why does anyone still use trebles?
