Fished 'meadow' section by willows from 11 am - 4 pm with 1 WBT about 14" using down stream pheasant tail. Warm but no insect life to talk of. Didn't see any other fish all day but a pleasant location and enjoyed the experience.

Both fished upstream nymph mainly. There was a small hatch of grannom but very few fish rising. The two trout were about 8oz each and grayling 12oz. All fish returned. Fishing conditions not ideal as the river had risen about 4". Water temp 10C air temp max 17C.

Only managed a couple of hours, the previous day's tumble took its toll, even an effort to cut the bacon this morning! Nil caught.
Note: My little incident yesterday, do we all carry a phone when fishing in the back of beyond? And are others aware of the 112 emergency number? I understand that they can pin point you via GPS? Just a thought.

Started at 9am on the top crib and worked down. Sometime after midday had a very gentle take to the spinner, the culprit turned out to be a 12.5lb fresh run cock - safely returned. Fished down past the bridge and back up but no further fish. Saw three different fish head and tail at various points during the day.

A little more water than expected and slightly coloured. Grayling took a dry fly at about midday and 2 small trout on GBGRHE. Trickle of olives through the middle of the day but very little surface activity. Warm spring sunshine and the valley looked a picture.

Recent small rise still slightly rising but colour not too bad. Gave the whole beat a good going over with Flying C's and Devons but only action was a kelt.

Typical spring day - bright, breezy and fresh. River at a really good height for this beat, water carrying a tinge of colour and predictably cold for March.
Apart from a dense, 5 minute flurry of March Browns at midday, little in the way of fly life. Just one rising fish in the 4 hours spent on the water.
Managed 2 pretty wbt of around 10" and one oos grayling of around 15". All caught on weighted nymphs.
As ever, good to be casting a fly after a long, wet winter.

The perfect Wild Stream location. Water condition and level absolutely excellent in wonderfully scenic and secluded countryside. Access from banks a little tricky in one or two places, where deeper pools across the width of the Stream made wading impossible/unwise and I imagine overhead and bankside vegetation could make things a little tricky once it fills out as the year progresses. I left several flies embedded in the scenery! Unfortunately, there was little sign of fish; I only actually saw one rise and that resisted all my efforts with dry, wet and nymph - I suspect I had spooked it and was casting to an empty pool! I think that my blank scorecard may say more about me than the Beat, so I would return. Only other comment is that directions to Parking don’t mention going through a gate and the grass parking area was quite slippery/muddy.
