The river is still carrying some colour and I didn't see a rise all day. Found one perfect 6 inch fish in the weir pool. Some tree clearing has been carried out on the lower half of the beat which makes access much easier.

Had a couple of hours on the top half of this beat - wonderful sport. The water is in great nick just now. Great sport on nymphs and dries; plenty of olives coming off below the faster water and the trout were eager to take on the surface or in the pots. 12 fish to 12".

Hopeless conditions for fly fishing from the bank. The designated Fly Only areas are either inaccessible or unfishable due to current water level and bankside vegetation and Bait fishers seem to dominate the litter strewn North Bank. A very poorly run fishery and not good value for money in my opinion.

I have to agree with the previous angler: this is a truly beautiful spot but the fishing is hard. I've fished the Arrow for a number of years and this beat seems un-typical because it comprises a lot of fast water with few glides and pools. Today with a foot or so of extra water pushing through it was too fast to fish many spots. What worries me is that as the water level drops this beat will slow down but be too shallow to fish usual methods. There was a little fly life with some olives floating down but no trout rising. I hooked and lost a good fish on a tungsten PTN fishing traditional down and across but nothing else worked. I'm unsure about this beat as it does not compare with the other Arrow beats in terms of river topography. There are also many barbed wire fences to vault with wader damage likely BEWARE!

A lovely day with the river fining down slowly. Not a great deal of fly hatching initially but after lunch some LDO's started to show and a pod of fish fed on them giving a brief but hectic period of sport. More fish lost than landed! A really enjoyable day in beautiful sorroundings.

What a BEAUTIFUL BEAT!!!!!!! Short session with the boy blunder, none caught but literally myriads of life under EVERY stone we turned over, large hatch of what looked March Browns and also loads of other what I call "flutter" flies! (no doubt an experienced fly fisherman would identify the type!).
Didnt see one rise though...although that was probably more to do with our clumsy wading! Session had to be cut short as twin granddaughters 3rd birthday beckoned! WILL DEFINITELY be visiting this beat again. Incidentally......on the way back to Builth just down the road from Hergest bridge came across an area of the river known as "The Common".....TROUT EVERYWHERE down there! please please WUF get us on there!!!

Lovely day with the river running clear. Water not too cold either when I realised I had holed my waders at the start! Slow stream of olives but I did not see one rise all day. Nevertheless, caught 6 at 9" to 11" from various deep streams and tree root channels on hares ear nymphs. Also 4 came off. All trout lean but in good condition.

The Gillies advice was spot on! (really appreciated him pointing us in the right direction over the phone as he was not available on the day)
My salmon estimated at 14lbs took at 9:40am opposite the hut with a good pull from a second 10 minutes later. A good fish leaped above me also. Red Flying C did the business as advised with water fining down after high water earlier in the week. My fishing partner managed a nice trout on the lower beat on the fly. Great access to the river really enjoyed our time here.
