A beautiful beat and what should have been an ideal day. The weather conditions were good and there is plenty of water which you can access. A few flies were coming off but there was no sign of a rise. A blank day for me.

12 x trout 6-8 inches, plus many more smaller parr, on a small Rusty Klinkhammer. A small amount of rain during the night was enough to put a certain amount of colour into the water, although this cleared as the morning went on. A few rises seen, but plenty of trout, mostly smaller fish in the runs at the heads of pools, were generally prepared to be enticed up, so I didn't use the nymph. A very pleasant way to kill a few hours. It's worth noting that this stream, which is barely above sea level, is reliably an early starter although, as it's a Severn tributary, it doesn't actually open until 18th March.

River a little coloured from rain yesterday. Sunny morning, clouding over in the afternoon, warm. A few grannom hatching, but no surface activity; we saw only two fish rise. We caught nine trout, from half a pound to about one and a quarter pounds, and one small grayling, all on heavy nymphs in deep but fast water.

A nice afternoon's fishing - 10 WBT from 6 to 12" caught mostly on gold headed copper john and flashback nymphs with 3 of the fish taking a klinkhammer. A few others lost too with nearly all the takes coming from the faster water.
All the fish were in good condition and were returned after a good scrap. There was a reasonable hatch of what looked like grannom and a few olives.
The day was rounded off with the sight of a sparrow hawk chasing and taking a pigeon through the trees.

Overnight rain had coloured the river and it looked like it was up an inch or two. This didn't seem to bother the fish and I managed to land seven trout of 8-10 inches. All taken on a variety of nymphs. A few grannoms hatched but no fish seen rising.

A few small wild fish and FAR too many stock fish. Lots of evidence of poaching and pollution. Quite dissapointing.

Having been washed off this beat 2 weeks ago, I returned on the warmest, sunniest day of the Easter weekend to find the river in fine fettle with a few LDOs in the air and the occasional rising fish. They were the only fish I saw. Despite trying various techniques I didn't touch a fish, although a long standing angler on the other bank had several from tight on the bottom.

Fished for around 3 hours on bank holiday Monday, a pleasant warm day with sunshine and high cloud. Fished nymphs, both heavy and light depending on depth of water but saw nothing and caught nothing having covered most of the lower and middle sections. The water was carrying a bit of color presumably from previous days rain, but saw no sign of any fish in any of the pools I came across and not a single rise.

We mainly used spoons made in Japan. They are silver/black, gold/red, gold etc with 9g weight. Spinner was not effective.
Most of biting point were near the surface. We had several bites and caught 2 rainbow trout.
Both are fat and have very good condition!
