2 decent WBT at 1/2lb plus 5 very small caught on Damsel nymph and Diawl nymph. A nice stretch of river in good condition. Very wet from rain but my son catching his 1st WBT made it all worthwhile.

River was at normal level and running clear.
We fished this beat from around 8:30am to 11:30am on the last morning of a 3 day trip fishing Wye and Usk Foundation beats.
Sadly we were unable to tempt fish with any method we tried, dries, wets or nymphs. We saw no signs of fish and decided to knock it on the head and start the drive home a little earlier than originally planned.
The section below the parking layby is quite easy to fish and wade however the lower and upper sections are somewhat more demanding and probably require a little more fishing skill and confidence in your wading. No fish seen and none caught.

Nothing much doing from 9am - 12 noon. A few fish came to the fly, but the trout were not really feeding that well. Bluebells and wild garlic looking lovely.

The fish were not really that evident and I could not see many rising, but they came relatively freely to the fly and I ended up catching 30 odd very nice little trout. The majority were 20cm or so with one or two larger ones up to about 25cm. The bigger fish that inhabit the beat were not around, but a lovely open stretch of water. It will be nice to return when conditions are warmer and more rising fish are around.

The stream was looking lovely with bluebells, wild garlic and pied flycatchers around. 1 very well conditioned brown trout of 1.5lb on a size 18 tungsten bead fished deep under a klinkhammer. Trout carefully returned after quite a batter on my 7ft 9inch 3 weight!

The stream was again looking absolutely stunning in all its spring glory. There was a little flylife into the evening and despite no fish rising they were fairly willing to take the small sunk nymph. 4 lovely trout one of which was 2.5lb! The others were 1lb and two of 20cm or so. A beautiful stretch of water although not easy fishing. Well done the Wye and Usk for making it possible for the WUF faithful to fish on wonderful trout fisheries like the Grwne Fawr. Thank you! Already very excited about returning this season or next.

One trout of about 6 inches caught and one lost. Only managed to fish for about an hour before my rod tip fell off and I got soaked in a failed attempt to save it. Hopefully the person who was arriving as I left had better luck!

Walked dogs along Pinsley this morning and trout rising everywhere. Decided to pop down to Court of Noke afternoon and early evening. Should not have bothered. Despite a steady Mayfly hatch and other fly, not a rise or sight nor sound of anything. When I first picked up a fly rod four years ago it was Court of Noke I started on. For a couple of seasons had nice bags of trout on a regular basis. Last two years have caught a few parr and fingerling grayling - but have seen nothing decent. This stretch of the Arrow does seem to have deteriorated.

Day started well with two 10-12inch trout however from midday onwards, it was totally ruined by kayakers and canoeists. Despite there supposedly being no right of navigation Monmouth Canoes are happy to offer guided trips and Canoe Wales advertise the whole beat on their website so personally I won't be returning as I suspect there's little chance of changing this behaviour. The Bell as welcoming as ever.
