I had a good evening and spent about 2 hours on the water. The trout were rising well. There is one important point which should be noted, the wading can be very challenging. The stream is quite deep in places and there is a lot of rubbish on the bottom as well as the bottom being mainly a soft substrate. This makes wading difficult. The banks are also steep so access can be difficult.

3 Trout

No salmon seen or caught, but the trout fishing was fantastic. Even in the boiling hot weather, the trout were more than willing to take a dry fly. At One point in the afternoon we had 3 grass snakes in the water with us. Lovely beat, well worth a visit. And thanks to the owner for the offer of help, we did need it!

A hot sunny day and my first visit to Foy. Maybe too hot. River low and nothing at all showing on ledgered pellet or any other ledgered offering. I donned the new waders and enjoyed fantastic sport with a shoal of chub falling to sweetcorn under a stick float. A trout even made an appearance after finding my bread flake too much to resist! The chub were mostly in the 3-4lb range going up to about 6lbs. My fishing partner seemed oddly more interested in his smart phone and failed to land a fish. Thanks for a fab day.

1 Trout, 7 Chub

Very hot and bright with a good ripple. No fish showed at all. Fished till 9pm. One angler took 2 fish (1lb & 1.5lb) on a Bibio.

2 Trout

All fish fell to pellet feeder tactics. Had barbel to 9lb and chub to 3lb. Great days fishing.

16 Barbel, 12 Chub

River was low and clear. Access to the water is good downstream of footpath. Started fishing at 2:30pm opposite the island and had 2 chub. It then went quiet till about 7pm and then had 2 more chub and 1 barbel about 6lb. Chub were between 3-4lb and all fish were taken on pellet and feeder. Close parking and excellent service from WUF.

2nd day on Courtfield, we caught 7 barbel to 10lb 2oz and 12 chub to over 4lb using feeder/pellet tactics.

In addition several salmon parr were caught. All fish were in excellent condition.

3 Trout, 4 Grayling

Another hard day in bright sunshine. One barbel and two chub before 11am and then nothing till 4pm. Caught another 8 barbel between us from three different swims towards the bottom of the stretch. All fish fell to pellet. Best fish about 8lb.

9 Barbel, 2 Chub

Fished top end early morning before it got too hot and fisherman on the far bank moved in. The lower part of the beat did not look promising in the low water and bright sunny conditions. Usual feeder method and pellet baits, all fish in good condition.
