River conditions as sunday, but a bit more cloud. 1 angler fished trotted maggot all day from the concrete path to the right of the pump. Hooked 4 small barbel and landed 2 plus many small dace. Another fished concrete pier (croy?) to the left of the pump with pellet feeder for 1 chub, 4lb.
The 2 others fished the shingle beach further downstream on pellet/meat feeder for 4 barbel up to 3lb 8oz. Canoeists, courteous in the main!!! A very enjoyable day.

River not as low as I was expecting, but it was very clear and full of leaves. Mainly fished bottom end gutter with klink and dink and caught a small grayling and trout, both fish about 10". No other sign of life. Some heavy rain in the afternoon.

River exceptionally low, virtually no flow and clear. Very warm and sunny day. Fished all along the stretch from the rock down to the caravan. No Barbel or Chub activity. The only species willing to oblige were Eels! Avoid luncheon meat unless you wish to catch them by design. All methods and many different baits tried. Quite a lot of Salmon (we think) activity, 4 fish spotted during the day.

We became just two anglers very late in the planning of this trip. Started the first morning looking at beats 4-6. Spent a good couple of hours walking the starch having not seen it before. With very low water levels, choice of swims was not fantastic considering the size of the section. We chose poorly and fished in the deeper pools of beat 4 for the first few hours and moved onto fish in the afternoon in beat 5 in faster shallower water. Whist producing fish it also proved quite snaggy. Fished the same beat the following morning but waited until lunchtime for a bite. Left for the last few hours on bet two upstream from the Boat Inn pub but on the other bank. Ended bite less. Conditions far from ideal, very low, slow and very bright did not help with location. 5 barbel landed, sadly similar numbers lost.

Stayed at Priory. Lots of stairs and quite steep but otherwise fine. Handy for walking to the beat. Due to age and cooked breakfasts, didn't walk to beat until around 08:30. Paperwork checked by game keeper which was good. Had a good chat with ghillie from beat below. Weather glorious and food and the Butty Bach in the Millrace superb. Just needed a days rain a couple of days before we came?
