No salmon activity in this area today. Beware of nesting swans on the bank near the bottom end of the beat as they did not offer a pleasant greeting...lol
A small sign to indicate a location of the pool access would have been nice as the banks are steep and over grown with nettle. Cheers

This is a lovely and varied stretch of water and with abundant fly life - I was hoping for a frenetic day of dry fly fishing - alas not. There were sporadic rises between 11 and 5 when I packed up. In the end I resorted to fishing a 'klink and dink' and picked up 4 fish on the nymph; one to 14 inches.

There were not many trout rising despite the appearance of some Mayfly. However, the few trout rising proved very cooperative indeed! I caught most on Adams size 14, going up to size 12 and eventually CDC Mayfly which landed me 32 cm trout. Most productive moment was from 2.30 to 4. An extremely pleasant afternoon's fishing! Thank you so much!

Started fishing early and for 4 hours caught only small perch on the bay on worms, both float fished and on the bottom. Nothing on my fly rod even though some fish were seen rising, then again I am a novice at fly fishing and don't even know what flies to use! Later I moved to the slope by the dam wall and managed another 3 perch and 3 trout to the bubble float fished worm, too windy to fly fish. All fish returned to fight another day.

Low water, clear. Biggest trout 9 inches. My friend lost his battle with a salmon at the bottom of the beat on size 4 line while chasing little trout. He said there are no big fish in these waters. All fish on deep polish nymph. Other fish were twait shad, if I'm not wrong, sort of 2 lb sardines, very good fighters. Late surface activity started after 9pm when we just finished for the day. All returned. Next time. Thanks.

River was slightly coloured and low. Nonetheless, there was a steady late morning rise which targeted a mixture of lacewings and mayflys. The hatch died off at lunch time and did not return. 2 x 1lb+ brown trout were taken on small, gold head nymphs. Fished across the current and stripped back. 2 x 6-7" brown trout taken in a similar manner on similar technique, all fish returned in good condition. A mink was spotted halfway down the beat by the old croy. A great days sport!
