What a brilliant low water beat. From Slaughter crib to Biblins run is a sequence of dreamy fly water with lies a plenty. When you finish one pool, another appears before you. Both fish took a size 8 Bann shrimp, the first a hen of around 8lb from the tail of the channel in Botchers rock, the second was my smallest Wye salmon. A little cock grilse of around 3lb that was lying were the Biblins run splays out across the channel. There were trout on the lip of every pool keen to eat the salmon fly and a couple were well over the pound.
Went down and gave the steady water in the middle a cast after. Plenty showing in this section but no takes. The 2 coarse fisherman were both fishing the sliding ground and both very polite and nice.
Did not see a single canoe. All walkers were nice and both salmon had an audience.

Conditions were tough with low, clear and cold water and it was well after lunch before we got any response. Three barbel and five chub came in a two hour spell mid-afternoon before the river completely switched off as the temperatures dropped. It stayed dry but a stiff NE wind certainly made it feel more like October than of late.

8 x grayling 12-18 inches, 10 x out of season trout 10-19 inches, on dry flies Grayling Steel Blue and John Storey size 16 and 18. A bright day, slightly warmer, with the river low and clear (0.35 at Cilmery) which meant that grayling had evacuated some of the more shallow runs. A slow morning, but after lunch fish began rising in fast water to hatching pale wateries and there were a busy couple of hours. Out of season trout, including a heavy one, unfortunately still forward on the feeding lies in many pools.

After a cold start to the day and a chilly north easterly we were thinking "Chub day". However they failed to oblige! The Wye "Double" remains elusive but three fine Barbel
of 8lb. 12oz., 9lb. 2oz. and 9lb. 12oz. fell to meat from the lower end of the woods. Just as the swim was coming to life the last hour or so was somewhat spoiled as an Otter
surfaced practically in the middle of the swim, that's life!! A tough day with only a half dozen bites all day but still a joy to be on the river.

Nice sunny day but breezy at times making casting difficult. River gin clear but quite low. DC caught 2 small grayling and a small os wbt GC caught 5 small grayling and a nice 10" os wbt.
Still not very easy to access above the upstream weir which is a shame as there is a lot of water that cannot be fished.
Thanks to all at W & U for providing great places to fish.

Conditions not ideal with low clear water and bright sunshine throughout the day making fishing difficult. Spells of feeding in early afternoon and then towards dusk saw 3 barbel the best being about 8lb and a number of smallish chub. This is lovely beat with good access and plenty of areas to go at and will definately return.
