Had a very enjoyable day on The Creel. After the recent storm, I was told by a dog walker that the river was about 2m up on normal levels. While I was there, the river dropped about a metre and this helped the fishing. While 4oz feeders struggled to hold bottom at start of day I managed to hold bottom for three barbel,to 8lb between 11am and 1pm. Fished pellet and boilie. I am looking forward to returning in the summer.

Regrettably I booked the same day as Dorris arrived and was greeted by a river about 10ft up and waves nearly as large
The river was not only unfishable and I have plenty experience fishing rivers which are in flood it would have been dangerous to even contemplate fishing

Fished a few hours in the wooded section with no joy, moved up to the meadow (pump swim) and was immediately rewarded with a small barbel around 6lb and shortly after a glorious fighting fit chub of 5lb 8oz. The river was low but goes to show if you stay mobile you stand a much better chance.
