A few LDO and the odd march brown. I saw 3 or 4 tentative rises in the afternoon but didn't manage to temp any trout.

All fish caught using the feeder with a variety of baits but the most successful was paste wrapped Ocean Pride squabs. All in all a great final day of the season on a wonderful beat. Thanks WUF.

The water was in great shape, perfect height but gin clear. Not a fish seen or touched - I fished Lady Alexander catch exclusively - hoping for a running fish. I did however see otters playing in the margins chasing fry, Red Kites gliding up above and a huge hatch of March Browns when the sun made a short appearance - but not even a Trout was taking advantage of them. The river needs another month to wake up!

River in excellent condition; weather likewise. Afternoon session produced 6 barbel to 7.8 and a single chub with a couple of fish lost. A fine way to end the season.

I fished for salmon 3-5pm. One could not ask for better conditions, river level, clarity, temp. , weather all "spot on ". Every cast, every swing, every "on the dangle", sizzled with expectation. It was such a tonic to be out and by the river. I know, next time, I fish the Usk as it was yesterday, I'll be releasing at least half a dozen fish. Trout fishing had been good , with hatches and catches around midday.

On our 2nd day, C H went in a swim that he has had success from before and I dropped in below him. Had 2 in 2 casts and caught on and off every couple of hours with a few more at the end to finish with. 10 to 9lb again, all on double 8mm pellet alternating between the feeder and straight lead. C H had 4 on either boilie or pellet again alternating the approach.
All in all a great 2 days, the fish were in top condition and didn't require any retention before releasing back, they were fighting fit.
Can't wait till June comes round.

I arrived about 9 am and fished the same swim as the day before. Conditions looked great but I had to wait for four hours for my first bite. Worth the wait though! An incredibly powerful fish was on which was eventually landed. It was a perfect, deep bodied barbel weighing in at 11 lbs 8 ozs. My biggest Wye barbel. That was followed by another barbel of 7 lbs 4 ozs. I lost a chub and then had a chub of 4 lbs 2 ozs. With about an hour to go the tip pulled round again and I was hanging on to what was obviously another big barbel. It was. 12 lbs 3 ozs! What a way to finish the season. At last knockings I hooked into yet another powerful fish which I eventually got close in but just as reached for the net the hooklink parted. It looked every bit another double which would have been incredible but I could hardly complain. All the fish were in perfect condition and now have three months rest from us anglers but I'll be back. Thanks to WUF and Don the bailiff.
