There were trout rising to a little hatch of march browns, LDOs and the odd stonefly about 2/3pm.
Caught one on an adams (16") and another on a small PTN (11"). Found no other trout to be obliging or rising after the showers started.

Nil return. It was a pretty dismal and un-enjoyable day really. Not even an offer. The pond probably had a real good hammering over the weekend - as usual.

I came here on this day rather than somewhere else as I'd heard of some salmon being caught further upstream. There should be a few here then which I was hoping to at least see. The water was at a good height and colour, so I was optimistic...

I found out why you have to telephone book during the week; there are season rods, who don't book through the WUF, so even though it doesn't appear booked, there may be fishermen there. And so I met a gentleman called Lynn. We got on very well, and he did see a salmon. As usual I was looking the other way at that moment, and it didn't show again. We both commented on how little activity there was with trout. There were good hatches of fly, but no takers. He hooked one, but I hooked a large tree....

One thing to look at... there was a bad chemical smell emanating from the bridge area. I don't know what it was, but it was quite noxious. It may be something to do with the caravan park; septic tank chemicals perhaps, but whatever it was, it was quite choking and drifted upstream with the wind...

1x 9" Brown taken on a beaded hares ear nymph just below the bridge.
Small hatch around middle of the day, lots of fish rising but couldn't get anything on a dry.

Rather challenging couple of hours. Driving rain put paid to any chances. Finding entry points to the river is a tricky thing and as a stranger I would advise contacting local club for more detailed directions.
Great potential

Sadly the day was ruined by another group of white water trainees, swimming and wading in the river. This has been reported.

Water was pushing through the beat at quite a pace (showing just over 1 ft on the Brecon gauge) and was very clear. We fished throughout the beat (upstream and downstream) using a variety of small nymph and spider patterns - PTNs and Greenwells Spiders proving most successful - and after numerous takes (and misses !) we managed to bring some good sized fish to the net ( 1 - 1.5 lbs). In mid-afternoon a sudden heavy shower prompted an extensive hatch, which in turn brought fish to the top. After a rapid fumble to change to a dry, and several attempts at targeting rising fish, I managed to secure a very strong and healthy 2.5 lb fish - and after an anxious scrap returned him safely to the water. We decided to fish later than usual, and pressed on for another hour, and in that final effort we both secured another fish each - DJ netting and returning a good fish of 1.5 lbs.
A really enjoyable day, and a terrific and varied beat to put you to the test.

I had few hours to kill while on an errand in Gloucestershire so I decided to give this beat a go, I only managed to get about half way though before having to leave. FIshed the clink and dink, six of the fish coming to the GHRE and one on the dry, although I lost one and missed one on the dry too.
No sign of any hatches but a few fish rising none the less. Overall I really liked this beat, every corner had somewhere to cast to. Although for the first time I felt that my 8.5ft rod was too big. I can't help but think I might have caught more if I had managed to keep my flies out of the trees, but that's what I'd expect on a wild stream.
