The relative shelter of the fishing hut deceived us while we were setting up and the stiffish north-westerly breeze soon had us heading back to the car for more layers. The cold didn't deter the grannom hatch around midday, but it did seem to keep the fish pretty quiet. We saw only the odd sporadic rise and all the fish came to weighted nymphs. A lovely day though and great to be back on this delightful stretch of river.

Fished with spinner, although I didn't catch any fish on this occasion I had a very enjoyable day for the short time I stayed, I had other commitments so had to cut my trip short, very much looking forward to my next visit on May 1st.

Slow early on but once the fish came on it didn't take long to get my bag limit of four fish. They were decent sized fish . {One of the bailiffs had a look at them}. There were two guys fishing near me and they were doing fine as well. Total difference to Usk Res on Monday. A four fish ticket suits me as my family do not eat trout and I give away what I catch. It is also more economical for my two previous outings at Llwyn On and Usk reservoirs respectively where I not only blanked but didn't even get an offer. It was great to have a little action on Wednesday at Llwyn On.

We kept this stretch for our last day because it is our favourite. two of us headed downstream as there was not much showing and fished with nymphs without success. Before lunch a few fish rose but refused to take our offering. after lunch all three (brothers) of us fished above the bridge managing a few tentative rises but not connecting with anything. late on my younger brother swung his wets below the bridge which accounted for a couple of knocks .
